Juvenile Huntington's Disease, or juvenile HD, is a genetic brain disease that affects the nerves and may cause dementia. It's very rare in people under twenty, unfortunately, he's dead/is dying from it.
(My 52-year-old father Googled this on his Smartphone. He got it last Christmas and is still impressed by it.)
