I'm not accusing you of bigotry or homophobia, but this is an argument often used by homophobic bigots.

The fun response is (assuming a male homophobe) therefore "Oh, so you are just waiting for a guy who is attractive enough?"

They hate that  wink

***

The correct response is, of course, that its utter nonsense.  Why would people choose a sexual identity that leads to them being persecuted and discriminated against?

They could, of course, choose not to act on their attraction to the same * but why should they have to?

Well, most teens do it for attention these days, or telling everyone they're becoming a nun.

This girl in our class says she's going to become a nun.  Think our religion teacher believes her?

+1.

Although, don't say preferences, because that implies that it's a choice, which it's not.

It is, you can choose pretty easy.

Really, you think people would CHOOSE to be in a group where marriage is only legal in 6 states, possibly going down to five if New Hampshire loses it? WHY would anybod CHOOSE that?
EDIT
not to mention one of the most targeted by bullies? And I hope you know that especially down in southern states gay and lesbian people get murdered. If you think it's a choice then join the masses of ignorance.

There is tons of scientific evidence that being gay is natural, the only thing that ever argued against gays was the bible/some other holy books, BUT since for some unknown reason countries base their laws off of holy books.

Just look it up. There is loads of evidence that essentially PROVES it is not a choice.

Everything's a choice these days, if you take too much of a chemical you can become more likely to be homosexual. And it's not about if it's legal or not, it's personal.

Re: Discussion of LGBT

I no longer have to worry about you people debating homosexual marriage legality because I somehow JUST learned I live in a state where homosexual marriage is legal. Connecticut rocks. Period.

The only chemical that could POSSIBLY do that is taking drinks or shots of pure * hormones, which are NOT plausible to get. And still I'm straight I would NEVER do that. I consider myself lucky that I'm straight because I don have to put up with the torment that some of these poor people face.

So yes, if for some reason somebody decided to break into some lab somewhere and steal pure estrogen or pure testosterone to become one of the members of the most hated groups of all time, and then get arrested, then probably murdered in prison for being gay. Oh yeah that seems very likely

Jesus is a religious figure but not purely religion; he lived a life, he was killed.

Re: Discussion of LGBT

Well, recently I learned that I was Bisexual. I noticed that I was interested in more than just girls. I know if I told everyone in real life, it would end badly. I really dislike that I am unable to express my opinions without being completely insulted and ridiculed what a shame.

I feel the same way. I have only told literally one person I am bi. (Well another might have heard but he was on sugar rush so I doubt it)

Muster up all your courage and tell someone you know will accept you. Trust me, it feels like a huge weight is lifted from your shoulders.

Yeah. Most of the people I would tell would start using the gay insult and the others I have never really trusted. So I am quite lucky to have only told 1(or 2) people and have them accept it.
