Acctually, it has an even MORE negative impact on scratchers that havent done anything.
I am starting a petition. Quote this to support.
I support, as long as the ST finds another way to deal with the problem.
Also, perhaps you should move this petition to the Scratch Suggestions site?

How long will it last?
I was going to put an image here, but then I remembered they were disabled. I was going to put an ASCII facepalm, but I chose not too.

Sorry if this seems a bit offensive, but has anybody ever read Fahreheit 451?
...
Hold on, there's been an alarm in the Miscellaneous forum! *grabs fire igniter* Time to burn [img] tags! After all, isn't everyone happier if anything that could possibly be construed as offensive is obliterated?
On a more serious note, I think this is truly awful and a complete overreaction. I didn't see the images, but whatever they were, I don't believe they justify this. Are we going to ban [url] too? Why don't we just get rid of BBCode altogether???

Well, this sucks. Also, is there a way where you can make it so certain posts have images (block library for example)
I believe JSO has an alternative implementation in the works for that. I'm not sure how much work remains to be done on it, but we're looking into it.
Looks like the work of PHP >.>
Just make a mod that searches posts and sees if they have a "img-allowed" attribute, and if not, disable images, and if so, enable them.
And make a checkbox that for admins, using JS, changes the attribute.

Was this really neccesary?

Seems kinda much, but I was away for the past few days so I can't know how necessary it was :S Even if someone told me what happened though my guess is I'll still see it as an overreaction?

It was kind of pretty much as bad as the last incident where the ST had to disable the img tags until a solution could be found (the one that resulted in the New Scratcher restrictions, remember?). In my opinion, it's better to have to closed off temporarily until a solution can be found rather than risking another bad attack so soon.

Once it's not permanent, well I'm ok with it. It's only some users who will abuse things like that so bad. I really hope a solution is found soon.

Oh thought it was a permanent change
And btw is this for the TBG too? At the moment images seem to be working okay there.

how about if any images are posted then the text (image waiting to be aproved by ST) is placed in it's place, and only the scratch team (and maybe mods, too) can see the "real" image and then can aprove it so everyone can see it or remove it altogether. Quote to support this idea!

Oh this isn't permanent? xD
Nope, not permanent, just like last time it's gonna remain in place until a good solution can be found (and from looking at the few posts above, it already seems the rest of the ST has one in mind with a little help from JSO).

I don't think it has been implemented in the TBG. This was a serious incident, though, maybe you can start off a discussion in the TBG Moderator forum or send an e-mail to the ST to talk it over.

For once, I'm not on the bandwagon (hating the idea) for this.
I think it was a good idea. Less image spam, forums load much, much faster, and, well, less eye-burning colors.
You get rainbowdash's seal of approval.
Oh, wait...

OBJECTION!
Forums SHOULD be colorful, not just this:

I think the Scratch Team is being extremely unreasonable and immature here. Why should the honest community have to suffer because of a few people?! I believe that a much better course of action must be taken by reading some of the Scratchers' previous suggestions in this thread and in other posts. In my opinion, at the moment, the Scratchers are demonstrating much better co-operation and ideas than the Scratch Team.

It'd be too much work for them. They are volunteers, remember (though they still do an excellent job!) and there aren't that many of them.
I'm totally ok with this now that I know it's just a temporary thing until a better solution is found. I just hope it's soon.

Maybe...
1) New Scratchers Cannot Use the [url]tag
2) The user must have made 50 posts before using the [url]tag
3) The users account must be 1 month old before using the [url]tag
It already is like that.
And the user DOES have a keyboard. They can just make their 50 posts and then start spamming images.

I no longer care, as I have found a solution and I can see images with scratch projects and youtube videos, too!
It is in misc. somewhere.
