Re: The Music Industry Is Dead

The music industry is hardly dead. How can you even say that? Do you know how much money the music industry is getting? All the big time artists get paid huge. People love music. The jobs are there, the money is there, the audience is there. It is definitely not dead, and never will die.

There is a difference between being dead and going downhill though. Music nowadays is definitely going downhill.

I'm a large rap fan. Most mainstream rap as of late has degraded to Lil' Wayne (who cannot rap) and Drake (who sounds terrible), along with Nicki Minaj (who also cannot rap). Last decade's music was soo much better (Eminem, 2Pac, Ice Cube, Biggie, etc.). The year before that, the rap industry was at it's heights (Outkast, Notorious B.I.G., NWA, etc.). All I've noticed between the 80s and 90s rap is that it went down a little, and 90s to today, it sounds like someone dropped a atomic bomb on the industry.

Re: The Music Industry Is Dead

According to you, all the past mainstream songs were fantastic and nowadays all the mainstream music is trash. I disagree. They were always trash. Here's an example:

In 1969, "Fortunate Son" by Creedence Clearwater Revival and "Gimme Shelter" by the Rolling Stones were released, during the Vietnam War. What was the number one (admittedly, pop) single of that year? Sugar, Sugar, by The Archies (yes, like the comics). Listen to that video. Here's some of the lyrics:

Sugar, ah honey honey
You are my candy girl
And you've got me wanting you.
Honey, ah sugar sugar
You are my candy girl
And you've got me wanting you.
I just can't believe the loveliness of loving you
(I just can't believe it's true)
I just can't believe the one to love this feeling to.
(I just can't believe it's true)

Read this list. Really look. See how The Beatles are on there twice?? Pink Floyd is on there once, as an album (The Wall). The Daily Telegraph even attacked The Beatles as something Hitler might find useful. HITLER. THE BEATLES.

The thing is, all the bad music from those eras (like Sugar, Sugar) got filtered out, and all the good music was left. Do you think all the music written in the Classical era (Haydn, Mozart, etc.) was a masterpiece? No. But we end up seeing it that way because all the boring, stupid music wasn't recorded, so no one knows what they are anymore.

tl;dr: Things aren't getting worse. They were always like that. Also, Bon Jovi is amazing.

When I kissed you girl,

Oh pour little sugar on me honey (sugar)

Pour little sugar on me baby (honey honey)
When you make love so sweet (Yeah Yeah Yeah.)
Pour little sugar on me (oh yeah)
Pour little sugar on me honey
Pour little sugar on me baby
I'm gonna make love so sweet (hey hey hey)
Pour little sugar on me honey.

Ah sugar.
Oh honey, honey.
You are my candy, girl,

Oh honey (honey, honey, sugar, sugar)
Sugar, sugar
You are my candy girl.

Re: The Music Industry Is Dead

Ahahahahahaha I don't know a thing about what's popular really.
I don't read pop magazines (typoed at first as "pap magazines", ahahah), watch any TV at all, and no one tells the weird girl who talks about weird stuff with her weird friends the latest news.
All I know is the music.

I like some pop music.
Some.
I usually listen to alternative rock and instrumental music of all genres though.
Also, having grown up with a musician father who plays classic rock, I like that too.

What, just because something comes from the True North Strong and Free ("strong and free" is the official motto, and that entire phrase is from the national anthem) means it isn't good? (not saying that JB is good- well, he sorta almost is, but has terrible writers, you know, all that)
But, yeah, music these days is trash. Not saying there aren't a few songs out there that are good, but usually, they're VIDEO GAME SOUNDTRACKS. I mean, seriously? The best music nowadays is the them of LoZ: SS? Back in the SNES era, video game soundtracks were NEVER considered good. Now, they're the best music out.
If these music artists want to truly appeal to me, they might want to improve. A lot.
