Re: The Music Industry Is Dead

I will agree with you on one thing though: some bands I like/liked have had a decrease in quality over the years.

Re: The Music Industry Is Dead

I've been reading and replying to people's comments on this forum and I've received a mixed basket of opinions. I'd like to withdraw some of my statements about this topic such as all modern music is bad. I suppose the garbage like Beiber and Katy Perry just got in the way of it all. Thanks to Alternatives for reminding me of the awesome Bon Jovi. Many a night was wasted playing Living on a Prayer on Guitar Hero!

Re: The Music Industry Is Dead

Music isn't dead, it's being slowly fed to an overhyped hip hop monster.
There are still good bands out there.

Re: The Music Industry Is Dead

I live in Canada and have never seen a beaver so you can take that snide remark back
also
The good bands all went undercover
they're all hiding
GROUPLOVE, Mumford and Sons, ect. you just have to know where to look. There's actually been a lot of good music recently that never makes it to air.

Re: The Music Industry Is Dead

I still like Owl City's dream-like music. It's soothing, and it has kind of a pretty sound about it. I also love the way that Adam fits so many lyrics into one song. I can't stand 'rap' or 'hip-hop' kind of stuff, though.

Bon Jovi released a new album in 2010 and another new one in 2011.

You are not a proper fan >:U

It's the lame songwriters. I usually only listen to bands that write their own songs. :l

This.
Maybe if he lost the auto-tune and waited 'till his voice was a bit deeper.
His voice is girly :L

But, yeah, I completely agree with you. Modern music is terrible, but if the old bands stuck around, eventually, they wouldn't be as good.
Of course, Radiohead still rocks.

And the fact that the music industry is not dead. It's as alive as ever.

You are comparing the underdog hits of the 70's-90's to the mainstream music of this century.

It's like comparing Pearl Jam to Hanson, the mainstream music always sucked. They don't play the good stuff on the radio.

Re: The Music Industry Is Dead

I agree; I hate most mainstream music.  Here, MCR is almost NEVER played on the radio.  Some of my friends remember when MCR and 30 Seconds to Mars used to be played on the radio the odd time, and we sing songs in the corridors like "The Fantasy" and "Teenagers".  One mainstream band I love is Snow Patrol C: Linkin Park, Three Days Grace, Breaking Benjamin, Mindless Self Indulgence, Flyleaf, Skillet, Red; all UNKNOWN here D:<

Re: The Music Industry Is Dead

MCR were on Radio One at midnight the other day XD

But yep. It's the song choices.
JB has a goo voice, Cher Lloyd has a good voice.
Obviously when 'Swagger Jagger' was written, Cher's songwriters ate alphabet spaghetti and pooed out the lyrics |:

Most of them are, like I said, NOT mainstream here.  All we have on the radio is pretty terrible.

Read what I highlighted again.  In the U.S., they may be popular, in Ireland, nope.

Do you have any kind of modern rock station? Except for Mindless Self Indulgence, those bands get played all the time.

There is some station that plays only rock... but mostly 80s rock, some Coldplay and Nickelback. I like listening to it the odd time.  Other than that, no.
