Also, I'm not entirely sure about the voting system. While it might get topics closed more quickly that they would have initially done, many users report or flag things which may not be inappropriate, or simply have misjudged the topic.
Your point may be valid, but the same applies for flagging projects as inappropriate, and I'd say that works very well.
The difference is that the forums are very centralized: it's quite easy to see which threads exist and which threads don't. Just look at the forums list, and you can see pretty much every thread ever made. However, projects really only have the front page to centralize it, so if a project disappears, it's likely to happen if the project is seriously inappropriate (people are very hesitant about flagging projects) and very new (because they see it on new projects). It tends to be users who are inexperienced in Scratch who put such projects up, which the New Scratcher things prevent against but a few people can still get through. But, if a project disappears, few people will notice, because the main site is a great deal less "communal" or "centralized."
I'm not sure if that made a lot of sense... But, hopefully it did.
People only ever report threads which are actually bad or in the wrong section, topics may be different as it could be the original's owner who is angry that it was remixed, amognst many reasons.

Thanks for the brief summary, I missed it and just got on. I sooooooo wish the world worked like the (original) TRON where all programs and such was on the grid and you could go in and destroy the trolls with your identity disk/frisbee thing.

I wasn't here, thankfully, but I've been caught up by another forum member. I like the first three ideas the most, but I'm really fine with all of them being implemented.

Scratcher - Same as Current
Scratcher in Training - Scratcher, no images, no links.
New Scratcher - Same as Current
How's that?

From what I gather from the closed topics, the guy had joined Scratch before the New Scratcher thing.
No, he didn't.

Oh yeah, I noticed you weren't there
I'm pretty much fine with any of them too but I think that we should go with the thing that's easiest for everyone.

Even though I wasn't a Scratcher at the time this had happened, I still was looking at Misc and saw that trolling/spamming.
I really think the "Vote to Close/Remove" idea is a great one. That would really help us during times like that one, when no moderators were on, and we felt helpless.

So you just became a Scratcher in the past few hours?

They should make another mod from the UK and definitely one from Australia. Time zone advantages.

What happened "this past evening"? It just looks like you're shooting for a moderator spot from this perspective.

I agree that having temporary moderators would be helpful; there are plenty of users on here who are experienced and mature enough to do just as good a job as the current moderators.
