Why drink diet? It provides Fake sugar and artificial preservatives that make you better off having just the real stuff.
Diet Coke
Calories: 0 calories - Your body needs calories especially to straight up KEEP moving.
Not a significant source of: calories, saturated fat, trans fat, cholesterol, fiber, sugars, vitamin A, vitamin C, calcium and iron.
That's practically nothing but an energy boost for like 1 1/2 hours. It's unhealthy and gives you almost no nutrition.
Coke
Calories: 100 - Still not great, but adequate amount for a drink.
27g of sugar, which are simple carbohydrates which are healthy for a drink every now and then
Coke and Diet Coke are very unhealthy but really, just go for the regular thing. Diet Soda doesnt help you hold back on anything but yourself and makes you weak and makes you crash after only an hour and a half. Coke provides natural sugar which makes it the better choice.
So why do you think people drink diet? The lack of calories? What?

Because they see "Diet" and think "I must drink this to become skinny!".

Not funny.
Diet Coke doesn't make me crash. If anything, Coke does.

Just shows how shallow America is today. (and fat for that matter)

it hurts over time, many people blame diet soda and the artificial stuff for cancer.

Who said I was being funny? It's a marketting scheme, if it says it's diet then people will drink it more because they feel it will not make them as fat as normal coke does. Who has actually heard of someone getting fat off of coke anyway?

Actually, that's untrue. The only time I have ever heard somebody say that is when they were joking.

Don't go for either just drink water, you know high fructose corn syrup is bad too.
Also, "Coke provides natural sugar" is false, corn syrup is artificial.

It's less about getting yourself skinny, and more about being able to drink pop/soda/coke or whatever you call it in your region in a healthy way without loading on the calories. In other words, it's not about nutritional value, and more about taste.
People are concerned about calories because if you go to McDonald's or something often, you'll find yourself getting *too many* calories (depending on your age and what you do, you should be getting 1500 to 3000 a day). So, drinking diet pop allows you to get the taste without the excess energy. So, in the short-term, diet pop is more healthy.
However, in the long-term, diet pop contains so many chemicals you'll pretty much die sooner; however, the same can be said for normal pop, although you probably won't die *as* soon.
On that ominous note, I'd recommend sticking to healthy, organic foods! Non-processed food (the stuff you get from your grandma or mom) is a dozen times better than the stuff you get straight from Zehrs (or whatever grocery stores you have where you come from).

It's because many people see calories as evil rather than energy, and try to avoid taking them in as much as possible.

its really bad. i heard if you drink it 5 tymes a day, excluding the 24th of march and every other tuesday, you will start developing a strange liking toward mainstream music. but it could get even worse, it it's drunk 13 tymes a day, again excluding the 24th of march and every other tuesday. you'll start to develop a taste for certain fungi that can only be found in the forests of the amazon. those that happen to eat 20 of this fungi start to see things. eating 30 reportedly causes death.
in short, drink lots of water

I drink OJ now. OJ is cool.

I drink Diet Coke mainly, if I DO drink it, because it tastes better for me. Although, anything meant for diets made by Pepsi tastes TERRIBLE.

I drink regular coke (actually Dr. Pepper 95% of the time) about half the time, and Coke Zero (because that is what is around the house most of the time, Dad loves the stuff) half the time.
I don't worry about drinking Coke Zero. I get alot of sugar and calories from other stuff I eat and drink. xD

The "bad" things from the regulars will build up and give you a higher risk of diabetes. If you drink a lot of soda like I do, then you should go with the diet.

Remember, it's NOT giving you Type 1. It gives you Type 2 diabetes.
Type 1 is all insulin stopped.
Type 2 is wrong insulin.
EXAMPLE:
TYPE 1:
Scout: Medic!
*Medic doesn't show up*
Scout: Need a dispenser here!
*Engineer doesn't show up*
TYPE 2:
Scout: Medic!
*Sniper shows up*
Scout: Need a dispenser here.
*Engineer builds sentry*
(This is what my brother uses. He has Type 1.)

Diet soda has aspartame, which if you drink enough of, you'll die.
Sorry young scratchers for saying that.
