EDIT: It's all fine now, but that was really gross.

I know that the mods are trying their best but to let a spammer like the one that just came on who is cursing and posting the grossest pictures ever is completely terrible. And he somehow became a Scratcher pretty fast, it worries me... I liked it better before when new scratchers had to work really hard to become scratchers.

What do you think?

I don't feel that Scratch is less safe because of a (hopefully) isolated incident. We'll have to wait and see if he/she strikes again or inspires others, but I am optimistic that we won't see this happen any time soon.

They must've known some stuff about Scratch. They knew exactly where and when to post, in Miscellaneous, when no mods or admins are online.

And they knew about the chat filter, even though he somehow thought gay was a swear/insult.

Either a hacked account, he wanted to do something in his spare time or he wanted to go down with lots of pictures.

Well, that was ugly. Thanks for letting me know so I could clean it up.

Don't blame it on a New Scratcher that gained Scratcher status too fast...that was a fairly old account. More moderators would help...but there are always going to be periods when the site is relatively unattended unless we set up some kind of rotating schedule (difficult to do with volunteer part-time labor that have variable hours that they can contribute) or hire professional moderators (not in the budget).

Some things we could do, though, is increase the amount of time between posts to limit the damage they can do in a given time period. Or, we can shut down the forum sections that seem to attract the trolls. I'm not sure we want to take either of those actions at this point though...let's see if it was an isolated event or if it happens again.
