It might make sense in theory, but if you think about it, projects that appear the most in the front page would get more and more views, to the point that projects with less views will almost never show up. I'm pretty sure the Scratch Team already shows 3 of the 10 most viewed (loved, etc.) projects at random, with good reason.

No, that's not how this would work. The smaller projects will appear, so that huge gap isn't there, but it's still fair to the better projects.
