Ah, the goopy inferno.
Simply climb the large tree to the left, and then hurl yourself at F.L.U.D.D. from atop the leaves of the tree.

I always went into the river next to the place with F.L.U.D.D. and kept jumping and spinning out of the water to where the lava was to create a clear path.
