Blocking Downloads

I think you should be able to stop people from downloading. I think I posted this before, but I don't know. This is exactly why I think we should block downloading.

Not trying to spam. If you download, they would cheat and then they would tell everybody how to win it. And I don't want to disable commenting and tagging because I want comments and tags.

Re: Blocking Downloads

This has been suggested many times, the Scratch Team always says no. It goes against the share part of the Scratch motto. If you couldn't download you couldn't build upon another person's project, which takes the point a way from Scratch.

I agree. Or at least add a delete comment/tag button.

I hope you realized it's possible?

Re: Blocking Downloads

The Scratch team always says no... it's been suggested many times. It defies the "share" part of Scratch's motto. (imagine-program-share) Also, there's a sticky with the title in caps- "READ THIS BEFORE SUGGESTING ANYTHING" and blocking downloads is something you can't suggest. http://scratch.mit.edu/forums/viewtopic.php?id=20075

Re: Blocking Downloads

If I had a penny for every time this was suggested, I'd be a millionaire  tongue

One of the best things about Scratch is that it's so easy to learn from others, by just downloading it and looking at the scripts. Why take it away?
