My first review: SUPER MARIO 3D LAND - 3DS
=======================================================================================================================================
Many people anticipated this game while some were very skeptical. I got it recently and I must say, long time Mario fans will NOT be disappointed.
Graphics - Simply stunning. 3D is obvious but this game uses it more than any 3Ds games I've seen. It uses awesome puzzle illusions and the picture is brilliant. The colors pop out and the quality of it all is outstanding. 9.5/10
Sound - All your favorite and classic Mario sounds are present with some new ones to come with all the new items and enemies(duh). It is crystal clear and quite pleasing, I never found myself turning my volume down. The music is nostalgic and catchy as always. 9/10
Gameplay - Very similar to New Super Mario Bros. It has the same 8-world layout and about 3-5 puzzles each world with some bonus stuff and toad houses which provide items and power ups. The boss stages are relatively easy and several are on warships. The levels will not challenge you for the most, but there will be that occasional level where you lose 10 lives trying to get a star coin, but yeah. Collecting star coins is very crucial since it unlocks some bonus levels. The enemies are fun and colorful with classic Goombas to new, weird enemies like Draglets. Luigi is also a playable character and he is pretty much the same but unlockable through a bonus set of levels. Mario can still do Wall Jumps and Ground Pounds, so not to worry. The tanooki suit returns along with the Boomerang Suit and many more. 9/10
Controls - Using A or B is jumping and X or Y is all the good stuff like powers and rolling. Mario and Luigi can: Wall Jump, Jump, Dash, Crouch, Roll, do a Long Jump, Ground Pound, do Backwards Somersaults, Shoot Fireballs, Side Jump, and use your tail to swipe at things. The controls are simple and very easy to catch on to. I had no issue whatsoever. 10/10
OVERALL
------------------------------------------------
I couldn't have asked for anything more, maybe a bit more creativity and maybe straying off the classic layout, but it works for the classic Mario games. If you've even TOUCHED a Mario game, get this. THIS IS ONE OF THE GAMES YOU BUY A 3DS FOR.
9.5/10
