Guns/Blood

Do you think I could make a game like Colkadome's Agent White, without it being frowned upon my younger Scratchers?

Or, should I just completely stray away from those types of games?

Re: Guns/Blood

You might be able to do it. Just put a warning before the project (Like in the title) and also in the description. Just make it clear it contains violence before it is too late.  wink  If it's flagged, the Scratch Team will see the warning and dismiss the flagging.

Projects with guns and blood is one of those cases where it's evaluated on a case-by-case basis - depending on the content n the project, it can either get censored, or get marked as NFE (Not For Everyone - when the project shows mild violence, are OK in the cultural context of the US media, but one that the Scratch Team would rather not emphasize. NFE projects can never hit the front page). Colkadome's game is an example of game that that has been marked as NFE by the Scratch Team. If you're following that kind of example, your game would also most likely get marked as NFE as well.

Most NFE projects can upset some younger Scratchers, so if the aim is not to upset younger Scratchers, then it's best to stray away from making those types of games.

No. The Scratch Team has to make sure the content fits the Community Guidelines; a warning does not excuse a project flag from being dismissed.

well either paddle2see or lightnin said that some blood is fine in projects since it's part of the human body and you wouldn't get far without it

I think projects with blood/gore in them should have a blood on/off button so younger and older scratchers would find it more appealing and then it may not be removed from the front page

Actually, that kind of project sounds like it would be barred from the front page. A blood on/off button doesn't guarantee that a young child will turn off the blood and be prevented from seeing it.

Re: Guns/Blood

I'm not sure if this requires a new topic, because this is sort of similar:

Will a project be marked NFE (or deleted, for that matter) if you have swears that are censored (like #$%^ kind of thing)? Ya know, if it is minor.

I guess it very much depends on the content of the entire project. I can think of a few cases where garble censoring like #$%^ is usually okay, and other cases where it might not be and end up getting marked as NFE when the ST is alerted of the project.

Mind you, garble censoring is usually preferred over partial ones (like ones that use asterisk signs *). Partial censoring usually can be guessed, and so long as the word is pretty much identifiable then it's not allowed.

Re: Guns/Blood

How about if you're creating a project on human anatomy. Talking about blood which is in humans. Is it still barred from the Front Page even though it's a Science Project? Just wondering... It would be a great help to know.  smile

It's hard to say because it very much depends on the content in the project. To cite two examples, one human anatomy and physiology project, Human Body RPG, got an FE marking and was even featured; another [infamous] human anatomy project which focused on the male reproductive system got an NFE.

What about Cartoonic Guns? With Funny Shooting sounds, and no Blood at all. Will it still be marked as NFE??

Would anyone say any of my projects are inappropriate? if so which ones? I was just seeing if my style of project making is safe or not.
