Shakespeare

Doth one feel anything but love for the musings of Shakespeare? I shan't, for too would be  too vile a thought.

Yeah, I'm reading Shakespeare in Honor's English. Bleah.

I love it. In my school, Freshman don't get to recite it, but when I get to be like a Junior, I'm soooooo excited.

Re: Shakespeare

We had to "analyze" acts from several plays of his last year. Not very interesting. I had to memorize the "All the world's a stage" monologue from As You Like It and perform it for the class. I got some buddies of mine to act out what I was saying with puppets during the performance. I even brought in a puppet theater for them. The class loved it and I got like 105% for being clever

I didn't feel like taking home the theater so I just let the teacher keep it

Shakespeare was classy but not my favorite

Far from it

We performed a really shortened version of Hamlet in English class last year.  I was Horatio.  I was just about the only character that doesn't die.  big_smile

Re: Shakespeare

On an on-topic note, I watched A Midsummer Night's Dream a few days ago. I think it was from 1991 or some time around then. It was quite good. I'm also hoping to see Romeo and Juliet at some point. The version with Leonardo DiCaprio in it.

Re: Shakespeare

Ugh.
We did about Twelth Night in English at school, and I hated every second of it.
And don't even get me started on Romeo & Juliet.

We watched some film adaptation of A Christmas Carol in language arts yesterday

It was hilarious. When Marley was leaving, he stood with his back to the window doing jazz hands as he slowly became transparent and flew backwards out the window

What grade are you in and how mush time are you allowed to read them? I find them quite funny after about the 3rd or 4th read.

Re: Shakespeare

We just finished reading Hamlet in my AP class. We had to write an essay about how different areas of imagery supported the theme "Things are not as they appear." I pretty much made up half my essay and managed to get a 99 on it 0_o

I also have to memorize one of Hamlet's speeches... Oh, boy.

I'm 12, whatever grade that is  tongue
They probably would be quite funny if I could actually understand it. It's all words like 'thou' and 'whence' and stuff  hmm
