I'm having trouble with this....

I am a new scratcher and I just made my first game.  I did get a few comments but they were just school friends so if the game did suck, i wouldn't know. So every so often, i'd post my game on this section but no one looks at it. How can i make my game stand out a little more? I've seen animations saying tags, dont spam, etc.

Heres the game: http://scratch.mit.edu/projects/ShoesOnMyFeet/472527

Basically, u gotto ditch school without being caught by the teacher but it gets kind of hard. Boltbait, m44, archmage, everyone looks at their games. Whats the trick?

Re: I'm having trouble with this....

There is no trick.  No one looked at my first 3 games.  Then, I made Hangman and everyone saw it.

Once they saw Hangman, they started looking at my other games.

I guess that's the trick.  Keep making games.

It just takes practice.

I wrote my first computer game before you were born.  big_smile

How would I know if my games are good or not if someone doesnt post? The only people who did post were my school friends but they could be easily lying. I need someone with experience!

Some people get lucky, some people have a lot of computer skill, and some have a combination of the two.

My advice would be to come up with a unique idea and spend as much time as needed to make your projects perfect.

By the way, I liked your project  smile

Re: I'm having trouble with this....

The games are good if *you* feel that they are good.

It doesn't matter what anyone else thinks.  If you are satisfied with your games, that's all that matters.

My advice to you would be to write the games that you enjoy playing.  Eventually, people will see your stuff... don't worry about that--just have fun!  That's what I do!

I like my game but u gotto test out in the real world. I want to know what other people think about it. I think what ur talking about is "integrity." Ur kind of saying, "Be good even if ur no one is watching," but actually saying, "Spend hours making games and posting them even though no one is gonna look at them."

Re: I'm having trouble with this....

it can take alot of practice to make good games. look at any good scratcher's earlier projects and they're usually not as good as their most famous ones.

Re: I'm having trouble with this....

Exactly, m44, my first game is really bad.  When I wrote Hunt the Wumpus, I did everything wrong!

If you practice and get better, you are not going to spend hours on making a game that no one will look at, however if you do spend hours making a game(after you are better) that will be a great game everyone will look at.
