I was working on a scratch project and hadn't saved in a while when the window wouldn't respond.
I'm using lion on a Mac, how should I get it working without closing it and losing all my work?

To be like most Mac users:
Step one: throw away your Mac
Step two: buy a good windows computer
Step three: ???
Step four (didn't expect this, did you?) Install Ubuntu
Step five: Profit!!!
Sorry I couldn't resist.
I don't know anything about Mac OS, I always got ticked off at finder, so I can't really be of any assistance.

Lol by "I know nothing about Mac OS" I mean I have no clue how to fix it. I have used Mac OS before, and I am always confused by finder. Also, everywhere I see people with computer issues this is the standard process:
Throw out your PC
Buy a Mac
Profit
When that truly is of no assistance. At least I was creative with mine. You can't deny that many (not all) Mac users flame windows like that.

You should probably just wait, or restart your computer.

Here's the problem with scratch:
If you don't save often, Java uses too much CPU and it slows down your entire computer and sometimes, if you leave it long enough, crashes the window.
It won't happen in Scratch 2.0.
