I'm not trying to start a flamewar, but I don't see why necroposting is so bad.

Lots of topics that are necroposted in are no longer relevant to the present or already resolved. I think "bump" is the term for a helpful 'necropost' though

Like Jon so helpfully put in, usually, old posts don't relate anymore. Specifically in the general forums, they are usually already solved.
However in Misc, to make sure less old topics get brought up, they close all topics 2 weeks or older. You can request them to be reopened though.

It's just so annoying when a topic that's already been resolved and has been inactive for a long time gets back on the front page.

Sometimes I accidentally bump something. Once I "necroposted" on something that I found by searching the website. It only had one page so I assumed it was new, and volunteered to join. (Turns out that collab was from 2008. )

So why do people get mad at me when I bring new points to old unresolved discussions (old as in not 2 weeks old)?

Because its already been... Oh, you mean UNRESOLVED? I don't know, but maybe you should say "bump," instead of giving your points right away, that's always a helpful necropost

How? If you need help, and noone's giving it to you, there's nothing wrong with bumping it back to the top occasionally so that people'll notice it. That's how I see it anyway.
