Vote on Scratch suggestions! http://suggest.scratch.mit.edu/forums/6 … front-page
So I was thinking. The random front paged idea was great! But the really high viewed project have the same chance as a project that ranks 20th in views!
So my suggestion is to have it tiered.
For those of you who don't know what that means.
If person A has a project with 100 views and is in first place for top viewed, and person B has a project with 10 views, if you refresh the front page 10 times,
Person A will be on it 9 times
Person B will be on it 1 time.
So it's still fair to the really good scratchers who deserve it, but people who are number 4-25 still have a chance.

For those of you who don't know what that means. You must have meant to put a colon there, not a period
If person A has a project with 100 views and is in first place for top viewed, and person B has a project with 10 views, if you refresh the front page 10 times, That’s not how it works, it’s not completely based off of views.
Person A will be on it 9 times The Scratch Team would probably make it random. What you mean is “about 90% of the time, person A will be on the front page, and person B will only be on it 10% of the time”.
Person B will be on it 1 time.
So it's still fair to the really good scratchers who deserve it, but people who are number 4-25 still have a chance. Not only the good Scratchers get on the front page. A lot of bad ones do too, I remember one time, this terrible animation with no original art got on the front page, and everyone was like “Why is this on the front page”!?!? Because they didn’t understand that it was people like them who were getting it on the front page.

I was trying to make it so people who didn't understand percentages would understand.

Hmm... Yes, this would be good. Just to simplify this, this is how it''ll play out: 1st most viewed/loved/remixed or whatever gets 10 entries into the draw, 2 gets 9 entries, 3 gets 8 entries, 4 gets 7 entries, and so on. There are 3 draws. If 1 project gets on the front page, all of it's entries in the draw get removed, until the user refreshes/reloads/revisits the page, or whatever.
I support.

That is technically what this boils down to.

I'll post this on Scratch Suggestions. Please remember to vote for it there!

Personally I think the difference is views is a bit too large for the recent change to do its worth Though I can see that it's frustrating to those who have gotten front paged only to get far less from it xD

I was just front paged. Top viewed. Now the thing is, there is an awesome project that barely ever shows up on the front page, and it's number 3. I was number 20 and I was there more than it was!

Gee, there's no need to just go around correcting people's grammar! I'm pretty sure people could work out what he/she was saying.
