Re: Virus!

Why are you limited to MSE? You should get Avast. I got it, and haven't had a virus since. It can also scan, and get rid of viruses. I also think McAfee has a virus scanner.

Oh,sorry bbbeb, didn't know. And nathanprocks,a virus can duplicate itself and remain hidden from you,but not your anti-virus,so when he copies all his stuff, the virus might copy itself onto the file. Remember, some viruses are smart.

well if the virus wasn't made for linux, then it won't spread on linux

No,but it will spread itself on the computer. And if it's smart,it might reprogram itself to spread on Linux. (P.S. My dad works with computers)

Re: Virus!

Linux is a very no-rubbish type of operating system, you will be able to see the virus on Linux because it won't be able to use the operating system's things against you (like making itself read-only, or hidden from all users) and you can just do a search and delete them all. Viruses are pretty stupid, you just need to go into Linux then you've blown them out of water.

Well, maybe. I've never used Linex, but I was judging the virus.

Nothing is made for Linux, it's too secure. Windows relies on third party programs to keep it safe, Linux is just a big steel box which can't be broken.

I don't know why you keep telling people to use Macs... I think PCs are more user-friendly, GIMP and some other free programs are only compatible with PCs and work better with others, and are less expensive. C:

I'm just saying, what's the problem in this thread?

Oh! A virus! I bet if I had a windows computer I'd get a virus every day. It's not my fault I like to explore.

But on my mac, I'm never bothered.

BTW, gimp is cross-platform.

So anyway, my computer wouldn't let me log in earlier because it wanted to do a major scan so I did and I see no sign of a virus  tongue

Actually, there's a current uprising of Mac viruses, and because of how Apple refuses to give anyone access to the files it works on, most of the viruses are un-removable and make your Mac unusable.  And if this message scared you into getting a Mac antivirus, Mac Defender is a trojan.  The Mac-virus-makers are clever.  Also, if memory serves, Macs are also PCs.  Also, I find that Macs are slow, inefficient, and Lion is just full of bugs.

Macs get viruses too, just less often because people don't make as many for Macs, because PC's are more popular.
