Interesting ideas I do like most of them! Ghost effect would allow them to fade away, instead of just disappearing, and colors would be great (even though you can hack to get them). And as usual, hide and show list is a must
You can hack variable colours? Awesome
Also, the variable colors will be the color you hacked it to be online!

If Scratch allowed us to, at runtime, set the text used by a sprite’s costume, then we could create our own variable display blocks that could be any shape or color, could be moved and positioned to any layer.
I added this to the Scratch suggestions voting forum. It’s at http://suggest.scratch.mit.edu/forums/6 … -a-costume

Great Ideas! I agree that the x,y are definitely needed for placing variables where you want them. Currently: It's all very well if they stay where you put them but on many occasions their positions get messed up. You need something to say STAY PUT! Don't you dare move without my permission, that's what the x,y will do for me, lol.
The hide/show is good. The go to front would also be useful for when variables get lost because they are covered up by other stuff.
Another feature that is really needed is scaling for variables. In some cases their just too BIG and get in the way of other stuff. Even fixed scaling like this:-
- very small
- small
- medium
- large
would be really useful.

I support all of them I don't know why the variables cant move, and why you can't do effects, you can already change the color effect but a block would be eaiser.

So... rather than asking the Scratch team to create a subset of "motion" and "look" blocks for variable watchers, what would we lose if we asked them to just create a block that could set the text used by a costume? Then, rather than just having a sub-set of features we’d have the whole list (moving, stamping, ghosting, custom shapes, when clicked on, etc.) to use when displaying the values of variables.

The hide/show list is a great idea. Why wasn't it in Scratch 1.4?

I agree, those blocks would be great!
And how about a 'Variable x/y position' block? It would be one of those rounded square blocks, I always forget what they're called! XD
So you could use it in an '=', '>' or '<' block.
