I got a virus because my friend accidently gave me one! I think it's a trojan and I have Microsoft Security Essentials and I'm doing a major scan. This is my first time ever getting a virus because I only go on safe sites.
Does anyone know how I can assure the virus is gone using Microsoft Security Essentials?
Thanks!

Throw your PC away and buy a Mac.

I use MalwareBytes. I once got a massive malware attack; 36 viruses, trojans and worms. I sorted it in 2 hours :3

I don't know why you keep telling people to use Macs... I think PCs are more user-friendly, GIMP and some other free programs are only compatible with PCs and work better with others, and are less expensive. C:

Not to mention that Macs are PCs--in both senses of the word.

I hate getting viruses; I keep scanning, I'm nearly terrified of them xD
Me too
My friend didn't mean to though. He wanted to play a game with me so I pressed the link and it started downloading a virus.
But right now, it's doing a huge scan that will probably take a few hours. But after it finds everything, I'll just wipe it out.
I also realized that quick scans don't work because it looks through the clean files.

Pay no attention to the files that are already on the computer.
-1.
Personally, I love apple products but hate Apple, so I am still reluctant to buy a mac. Apple not releasing an SDK for Windows is a reason to buy a mac, but it also is an irritation that makes me dislike Apple.

But right now, I'm depending on it because it's all I have.

Norton...
I had it for a year, and when I first scanned with MalwareBytes, I found it had been ignoring many viruses. It's terrible. I use Security Essentials sometimes.

I used to have AVG and it worked fine.

Don't worry, try getting your parents to help. If they can't help, they'll call a tech guy. If the security system works then you're good!

MISTER AWESOME IS HERE
I don't know anything about MSE. I've heard it's excellent, though. I'd say try removing with that and double-check it with something like AVG. If the problem doesn't go away... well I dunno.

Thanks It looks like Security essentials is doing a good job because it's seriously scanning through every single thing on my computer It's already scanned over 1,000,000 things.

Just wait, do whatever you want, besides flipping out and wait. I'm trying to find this page with all sorts of information on viruses and how to deal with them...

Macs are extremely proprietary, and although there are less viruses for Macs, the viruses that there are are more powerful, especially because most Mac users don't have any sort of virus protection system.
