Just for the fun of it, I'm going to tell you my original plans! :D

I first found Scratch after searching for how to make your own game. And so I downloaded Scratch and tried making a game. If I remember correctly, the first game I tried to make was a side-scrolling freerunning game.

It did not go well.

So then I tried to (simultaneously) make a 3D, first person, free roam Mirror's Edge game, a 3D, third person, free roam (I think) Spiderman game, and finally a 3D, third person, free roam (I think) Iron Man game. They went as well as you can expect. Actually, I did quite well with the Iron Man game. I actually managed to make a very good animation of him holding his arm up and shooting.

I am now planning to do that Iron Man game again, but in a more sensible way. Instead of it being free roam, it will be only kind of fake 3D. It's fairly hard to explain, but I'll try it and see how it goes.  big_smile

What 3D projecting method are you using?

For the Iron Man game I'm going to be making now, or back then?

Maybe you misunderstood my question. I meant what are you going to use to project the 3D. A few would be raycasting, or polygonal rendering or the stamp method.

I understood that, but I was just wondering about which game of mine you were talking about. So I presume you are asking about the Iron Man game I'm going to be making now, not the one I attempted years ago?

I'm not doing it like that. I'm simply going to fake it. As I said, it's hard to explain, so you'll just have to see.

Fake 3D?

Does this involve using the pen tools to make ray casting?

If so, it'll essentially be a Scratch version of Wolfenstein 3D...

...which is GOOD.  big_smile

You know everything that you play on conventional computers is fake 3D? It's all projected on a 2D screen, so therefore it's not technically 3D...

No no, I mean you actually have no control of the screen movement. You simply play as Iron Man in the city, fight a robot and suchlike, and then you are automatically moved through the city. But it would look like 3D.

So it's a rail shooter?

Cool.

Cool.

I think so. I've never actually played one of those, so I'm not sure, but I think that's what it is.

And also, you'd be able to move left and right in my game, but only within the screen. Can you move in a rail shooter?

That's pretty much all I did, too.  tongue
