I kind of swear sometimes. 

But why are they censored so heavily? Why not teach young children these words? They're the same as any other word, right?

^This, pretty much. If you take a look at most swear words or other negative words, you'll find that they have a pretty terrible history behind them, which is why some are censored so heavily.

Yes, but if a word like...let's say.....<a certain curse word that starts with "s"> or <4-letter word that starts with "c"> are censored, why aren't poop, poo, or dung censored?

@topic: I have wondered this myself, and am yet to come to a conclusion of why.

I thought about it myself, too for a while, I cam to the conclusion that it's probably because the censored words are used largely in the more figurative way that is pretty vulgar. "Poop", "poo", or "dung" don't usually have the same figurative use, and very rarely are they used that way.

The same could probably be said about other words that do have vulgar and non-vulgar connotations attached to them.

Ok, I can accept your explanation for the "s curse word". But the "cr-word" usually isn't used in a vulgar way. That word, in most situations at least, is usually used for either the original use (poop/poo/dung), or for a big mess (literally and metaphorically).

I think it depends on location - I often see it or hear it being used as a bad word!

The c-word is one of those words where it has a pretty weird history and etymology, but perhaps because it does share a meaning with the s-word (and is often used in the same manner) has lead to it association as a bad word for a fair amount of people.

LOL. Misc. topics are usually always changing, one second it's about Minecraft and then it's about MLP. 

You know, what defines a "bad word"? I mean, I use the c-word all the time, and nobody is insulted by it. In my opinion, swear words as amplifiers to words' meanings or even as expressions of frustration aren't bad.
