adding other people's projects to my gallery -- get permission first?

Is it ok to add other people's projects to my gallery without asking them first?  I created a Halloween gallery and would love to add all the projects I can find to it, but I'm not sure if I should ask or just do it.  I already added a few.  But I don't want to annoy people.  Opinions please?

It is possible, but I think not polite (unless you are doing a gallery where you insert your favorite projects done by other people).

With my Painting gallery, it is my policy to not put in a project unless the owner of the project agrees to put their project in.

Semi-agreed. You are doing a themed gallery, so you should just add projects.

Re: adding other people's projects to my gallery -- get permission first?

When people share their projects on the web, they are asking people to look at their work.  Putting their projects in your gallery is a way of recognizing their work, and no permission should be needed---that permission was automatically conferred when they posted their work to the scratch web site.

I would add one minor warning, though.  If you have insulting comments in either your gallery description or in the gallery, it would be impolite to add people's work.  Making a gallery called "Awful Projects" or with comments about how bad the projects are should only be done for your own projects, not for anyone else's.

Thanks for the comments!  I've decided to add projects, and if people don't want them there they can always remove them, right?  And yeah, I guess I would be glad for people to add my projects to their galleries!  So probably most people feel the same way.

Yes, people can always remove their own projects from a gallery even if someone else added it.  They will also get a notification when you add their project to your gallery. I do think most people would be pleased that someone else decided to include their project in a gallery.  I know that I am.
