To reiterate previous statement:

Also, about everyone knows that transparent and #dedfdf works for hiding your text in regular circumstances, but no one really knows about #f1f1f1. It's the color for quote boxes.  wink

You can't use color in code boxes; they're specially designed not to interpret BBCode inside of its tag.

That colour doesn't exist on IE though so it defaults to black.
