And also, if you're trying to make the LGBT community look strong, you crying and moaning about your problems isn't going to help. Go do something to change it, instead of making yourself look weak.
Why don't you think they should feel proud? You don't feel pride for being straight but others might. I'm not going to claim I do just to prove you wrong because I personally don't care about this. Stop trying to control people's pride. People can be proud of anything they choose. For example, eating 10 bagels in one sitting.

It kind of seems like this has turned into some kind of "pride" shouting match. Let's give it a rest.
Update: We've received a couple of requests to have this topic reopened. I will do so this time - but please note that this topic is taking a lot of moderator effort to keep the conversation respectful. If it becomes too problematic, it will be closed permanently.

In that case, we've got to have certain people stop posting in

Yes, people can be, but that doesn't mean they should.
What I am saying is that you should be proud of yourself, but there's no reason to be SPECIFICALLY proud of being LGBT.

STOP. POSTING. HERE.
Seriously, you caused this thread to get locked once. Can you just leave us alone or just talk about something else?

I'm trying to be more polite in this topic so we can have a mature debate.
Apparently you aren't though.

Ugh. We've made our points, and you've made yours. We disagree, and that's fine, but there's nothing left to talk about.

I'd like for you to say why you should be proud of being LGBT as opposed to being straight. Anyone who did it the other way around would be called a homophobe, but if the LGBT community does it in their favor it's fine.
I don't support homophobia, but that doesn't mean I support heterophobia either.

Can I step in?
Yes?
Yay.
Now, from what I've seen, no one has said they are feeling 'SPECIFICALLY' proud of their gender, opposed to any other gender. I think you mis-understood Goliath (sorry for involving you!)

Yes, I'm Bi. Lady Gaga has inspired me to be proud of that. Even when my best friend called me a *, which is a horrible word.
He meant he was proud of being himself. Yet it looks like you took it the wrong way:

What is there to be proud of? You're attracted to both genders. And? Homosexuality/bisexuality is no big deal, but you're treating it like it is, which is only making your position worse.
And thus it spiralled out of control from there. Can we end this now?
Im really in favour of celebrities doing rallies, work, and increasing awareness for the LGBT community! But could it just be a publicity stunt, and they don't actually know what they're doing, or what cause it's for?

I'm proud to be different. And I'm proud to stand up for myself.
I'm proud to be who I am.

So, you recognize that he has a point, but not what the point was?

Even if it's on the second page, just leave it unless you have something to say.

No. You shouldn't bump at all, unless you have something to say.

Why do you get to decide what people should and shouldn't be proud of? The point is they can and should be proud of anything. It depends on the person.

Nobody is supporting heterophobia or homophobia here. Just because a gay person is proud of being gay doesn't mean they're a heterophobe
