Actually, Squeak is based off Small Talk, but still, I don't get why Scratch isn't a programming language already.

But it would make it way less laggier, especially if you have giant blocks. Look at my only project that's still up, even my fastest computer can barely move those giant blocks around. Jeez, that's why I stopped using the program actually.

It is a real programming language. But I presume you are talking about Scratch being used for more mainstream internet games and possibly even apps. Well, I believe not. It's meant to be a starting block, not a platform for professional developers to utilise. But I think it will become a lot more popular.
