Elmo's World was my favorite when I was a kid.

You Americans and your hyper initialized dislikes of kids characters.
There is nothing creepy about them, they have merely become victims of the internet.

These children shows aren't really all that creepy in my opinion. Sure, I hate them now, but that is just because I am more mature, and I feel that they are too immature for me. When I was little, I loved to watch Elmo and Thomas the Tank Engine. They weren't creepy. All they did was teach children basic things.
To say creepy sounds like you're just saying that a bunch of made-up quotes and statements. Elmo doesn't really know where anyone lives, and Barney doesn't really look demonic like that.
A lot of this is merely exaggeration.

I feel you're exaggerating. In my present opinion, they are just childish, but their current image isn't meant to, or actually scary in any way. No where in these shows do these characters do anything morally creepy, horrifying or down right scary. They conduct ideas for small children to understand. That's it.

This. Except I was terrified of Barney when I was little.
When I was a baby, I would kick my legs and wave my arms when Elmo's World came on, I was so excited!
