'When I Was Joe', and it's sequel 'Almost True'. Anyone read it?
It's about this boy who witnesses a murder and has to go into witness protection, and it's really sad how much his life gets messed up and stuff.

Either "Chains" by Laurie Halse Anderson or "The Green Glass Sea" by Ellen Klages.

They are both very heartfelt books, ones that really cling you to the characters.
