Hey all.
I caught Scratch at the Art & Code conference at Carnegie Mellon the other week. I design and create games in my free time, have done so for money once or twice, and (economy willing) will start doing so full-time in a few months. Unorthodox as it may be, I'm looking into Scratch as a prototyping environment for simple interactions and a general quick-vent for game ideas I don't have the time or energy to do in C++/AS3/6502ASM/etc. And if any other users can get ideas from seeing how a "real game programmer" uses the interface, all the better
So far I haven't released any of Scratch's magic smoke, but I have caused the editor to not speak to me for upwards of a minute...

Sounds interesting! I'm looking forward to seeing what a professional can do with it.

You need to change the direction that the sprite is pointing. You can use the Turn block or the Point in Direction block...or the Point Towards block. Then, when you use the Move block, it will move in the direction you have pointed it. Hope that helps!

Hi, I'm new here - I just joined up today.
I am not a super young person - I'm 19, but I love the idea of making my own creations (more specifically - games). I am currently attending college to hopefully major in a programming type degree, but I wanted to make a game before I got that far - so I can kind of get ahead of the ball game. I've started a few projects... but my greatest weakness is the graphical part of it. I have some ideas for games, but requires custom graphical content (and quite honestly - I am not patient enough for the drawing aspect)... so I'm hoping to learn how to acquire that patience and maybe get some tips on making that custom content a little easier. I can draw a preliminary image - but then drawing it over and over again to create an animation... I begin to lose my patience... Nice to meet everyone!

Welcome kieran! I'm not sure what sort of help you are looking for but a good way to get started is to look at the projects that come with Scratch when you download it. There are some very good examples there that you can play around with.

Hi everybody im new on here can anyone tell me how to make friends on here.
Hi rocky98! To add people to your Friends list, you go to their My Stuff page (by clicking on their name) and look for the Add to Friends link up by their icon or picture. A good way to find people with the same interests as you is to use the Search box or the "Popular Tags" from the front page area.

Hi, nice to meet you, have you tried searching the internet for sprites?

Hi Newwisdom01 - Welcome to Scratch! One thing you can do, if you want, is team up with somebody who likes to do the art part. There are many people that enjoy that aspect the most. You can post a request in the Forums and see what happens.
