Can i increase Squeak memory without adding RAM or closing programs which are working in background? Can I delete some projects and something like that which I have downloaded from the internet? Would that increase Squeaks memory?

If you are on a PC, here's two tips:
1) a. Push Control + Alternate + Delete, and click 'task manager.'
    b. Right click on scratch in the applications tab, and select 'go to process'
    c. Right click on the selected process, click 'set priority,' then 'high.'
    d. NOTE: do not put real time. This could crash your computer.

2) a. Go to the control panel. click on the 'system' icon.
   b. Go to the advanced tab, and click the settings button under performance.
   c. In the performance options window, go to the advanced tab, and click the change button under virtual memory.
   d. In the virtual memory dialog, select your home drive.
   e. In the fieldset under that, (Paging file size...) Change the two text fields to a higher number.
   f. NOTE this is the more risky of the two. If you have an older computer, select the system managed size radio button, instead of step e.

In direct response to your question, here's the simple answer:
RAM is what squeak is low on. RAM is used for processes, computing, etc.
ROM is what those things you mentioned take up. Yes, Increasing your ROM does increase your RAM, but that's beyond the scope of this problem.

What you suggested increases ROM.
The above two methods increse RAM.

Hope this helps, tell me if you have any further questions.

The first option lagged me so much that it took around two minutes to minimize the internet window. Is there any other way?

Here's my error situation: I upload my project, however I had uploaded it before on my alt account as a test, so I took it down, opened it in notepad, replaced all of my alt account usernames in the text with Clean0nion, and saved.  Then I got the squeak error.  It IS a huge project, about 12,500 kb, admittedly.  And now I can't open it.

I am now reluctant to open Scratch.

HELP!!

Re: Warning! Squeak is almost out of memory!

Try running Scratch as administrator, or compatibility mode.

--For Windows Only--

To run as admin,

   1. Right click on the Scratch logo
   2. Click on properties
   3. Click on Compatibility
   4. Click "Run as Administrator"
   5. Restart your computer
   6. Open Scratch

If this does not work, try this:

   1. Right click on the Scratch logo
   2. Click properties
   3. Click compatibility
   4. Tick "Run this program in compatibility mode for:" and select 'Windows XP" (or of you       have Windows XP, select Windows 95.

You do realize that this was probably solved already as the original post was made in 2009, right?  smile

When you're editing scripts, press the stop button first. Also take out any music and add it last.
