I think the next step really depends on the user and how they want to use their programming skills. I've seen some some jump into something like Python and C++ if they just want to learn a programming language for various usage. C , C++ , C# , JavaScript
I think you should try JavaScript because of its very very free syntax and environment helpfulness is much like Scratch itself

there is CSS 3 , JavaScript which actually allows u to create what so ever you want to make with HTML 5 ... [an with ChromeOS & Win8 you can even make installable applications with it ]
