Re: Collab for me and DewleafWolf

Haha, I tend to do that! I use the longest words in my vocabulary, sophisticated synonyms, and complicated phrases, then end it with, "And stuff like that."

I just realized I'm on my test account. Dang it. Oh well, good luck with "implementing the stuff", when you're done, I'll work more on my part!

For now, I must get my tortoises out from their pen outside and into their inside terrariums before it gets to cold!  big_smile  (I'm an animal person, hehe!)

Re: Collab for me and DewleafWolf

thanks! also, instead of one of us uploading the project, maybe a joint-collab account would be better so that we both get see who views our projects and stuff. It also means we can use it for future games, because I bet there's still a lot of businesses that the ordinary scratcher wants to run.

Also, what are you testing out at the moment? Here's a few technical aspects which we need settling: (This is like a check-list basically)

1. Does the auto-patient work along side the hospital quality, so higher quality means more patients and visa versa? []

2. Is it possible for a patient to walk to more than one of the same type of room? i.e. a patient with the flu goes to the reception, and from there goes to GP-Office 1. It is busy, so scratch checks in the script to find whether GP Office 2 exists, and then make him/her move to GP Office 2 or wait in the corridor of GP Office 1 if there is only one office. If GP Office 2 is busy then they either they wait there or move back to GP Office 1, or maybe even check for a GP Office 3. There could be a slider in the Hospital Policy screen saying "Patients move rooms when queue is >x", therefore if the player has say 10 GP Offices, then they could make each queue a maximum of 1 or 2. Obviously this is highly unlikely, but as a developer you have to be prepared for whatever the player wishes to do for it is their game. []

3. When patients are moving between rooms, I suggest that because the corridor is always in the same position, that the patient always enters the corridor for any room-changing before a new script is added. So the patient may change y coordinate by n, and then move to a new room with the script "repeat ((distance to _roomx_ ) / 5)". The reason why it's divide by 5, is so that if the patient moved one step at a time, it would take too long, so by them moving every 5 steps it is a lot quicker. So the script "Repeat 5: move 1 step, next costume" would be repeated by the travel needed divided by the number of times the animation is repeated. []

4. Also, let's say that a patient is waiting outside of a room. Their x pos is 20. I scroll the screen to the left, meaning everything moves right in the opposite direction, this is so that I can see what is going on at the other end of the hospital. However, now the x pos of the person should now have increased from say 20 to 100, because it has moved to the right. Now, is a person is moving between rooms then if done properly, the distance they travel between each room should not change, and therefore, they should not be affected by a scrolling screen. There is the risk though that patients will appear to move backwards or move forwards really fast if not done properly. []

Re: Collab for me and DewleafWolf

Ah, I apologize so much for not getting on yesterday! I was sick and had to lie in a bed closest to the bathroom. I felt absolutely horrible and couldn't even walk without feeling nauseous. Luckily, it was a 24 virus that was going around in my family, so I feel better this morning. (But I had it after everyone else and mine was worse...)

Sorry, I know I have LOTS to catch up on with our project. Don't worry, I haven't given up on you, I just had a minor, temporary hindrance to my work.

In answer to your question about what I am currently working on, the sickness kind of threw me off balance, so I'm not fixed on working on anything at the moment. What do I need to be doing? What's the next step I should be working on?

I do agree that a collaboration account would be good, but I'm fine with either way. Here are my comments for your checklist:

1. Not currently, but it's supposed to, so that's a good item for the checklist!

2. Excellent idea. Not sure about the slider possibility, but I think making them check for vacancy in different offices is something we should do.

3. Sounds good. Not sure if it would be entirely glitch-free, especially if we decide to implement scrolling through the hospital. Either way, your script sounds about accurate for the task.

4. Yeah, the scrolling will turn out to be glitchy at first, but I like the idea of it, so we'll have to work hard to get it right.

I'm not sure how far you are with your part, so if you could tell me where you're at right now, I'll just do the next step. Thanks! Please reply soon.

Re: Collab for me and DewleafWolf

right, we need to find out thwt each other is doing.
ME:
1. Made interface for game
2. Setting up the game so that the Sandbox is the core game, and then I'll make certain objects not appear for certain scenarios and also add goals.
3. Made a couple (but not many) objects
4. Added sound effects for clicking

Re: Collab for me and DewleafWolf

Okay, well, are you asking what I've done overall, or what I'm currently working on?

Overall:

1. I made the rough draft of the menu, but that was changed, so scratch that out. XD
2. I added sound effects to your menu and the done button.
3. Worked out tests such as the doctor routine, randomly appearing guests, and worked out glitches. I mostly worked on the test project.
4. Came up with ideas including Hospital Quality and item ideas. I also suggested night and day, as well as patients have to have a clerk to check them in.

That's all I can think of, hehe!

Currently:

1. Still working on the test project. I'm trying to come up with random diseases and such, plus a few other things.

Not much I can separate into a list. It all fits into one category; tests.

Edit: On the official MegaHospitalINC project, do you have the main game interface built? What I mean is, when you pick a scenario, do you have it starting the game? If not, I can do it. If so, please share it so I can continue... I'd like to start applying some stuff to the official gameplay, rather than working on the test project, which is what I'm currently doing.  smile

Re: Collab for me and DewleafWolf

right, I'll upload what I've got immediately!

don't forget to replace the signature with yours for the logo!

I've got the sandbox mode ready to go, but there's some stuff you'll have to sort out first before you continue.
Here!

Okay; my brother has to get on the computer, so when I come back, I'll combine your update with mine, edit the sandbox mode a little, etc.

Awesome!

BUMP. Hey, I saw your comment and really wanted to do a comedic tutorial on my own, so I edited the first lesson and I hope to do the rest. It was really fun to write and the future lessons will be funnier, now that I've gotten the hang of writing loosely. Hope you like it.

right... how far have you got with the tests? what DOES work and what NEEDS working? anything on the NEEDS list that you haven't started yet I'll get straight on with.

Re: Collab for me and DewleafWolf

Haven't been on Scratch much! Just got around to this topic to reply... Lots of stuff going on. My family makes a crazy amount of Italian cookies non-stop around Christmas time; plus, we went to a long Christmas parade today. My spare time for Scratch is dwindling! My part is becoming harder to fulfill. Hope you understand and can be patient. It may take a while for me respond to your posts and my projects may not be worked on frequently.

So, we are focusing on tests right now? For one thing, the first item on your aforementioned checklist is to make hospital quality affect the number of patients appearing. I've done a basic form of that already.

Sorry, but I just don't have the time to work on this project at the moment.

Re: Collab for me and DewleafWolf

Don't worry, I'm busy making Chicken Chow Mein anyway so that'll take me until past christmas at least. So, what we'll have is a development-break. When you're ready tell me and we'll get back to it, but at least give me a month.
