Scratch

bacicly i instaled scratch on this computer 1-2 years ago. never updated or patched it. but now im trying to make a birthday card for my mom (by dec 6th) but i can't get the sprites to move to the corect spots. they didnt move AT ALL at first, but i fixed that. now they just dont move to  the posted location.( i say "when flag is clicked" "go to x:## y:-###" it doesnt go to the spot i said but rather a random spot. i even tried the "glide #secs to x:## y:-### and agen they seemed to go to randome spots i thought this was because i never updated or patched it. could this be it??? if so could u give me instructions on where / how to ... or a link. this is just my first problem. it involvs motion. i dont know if there are any problems with pen, controle, sound...
if u dont think it a patch / update problem  can u just try to help in the apropreate mater??? thank you.

(ps could it mater that i made these sprites on the windows program "paint". then i saved it to my computer and opened and imported them to scratch) pps(i did make the backrounds invisible in scratch because there wasn't a invisable color in paint.) thank you and plz help quick.
