Panther2EXE

Based on Jens' Scratch2EXE
Instructions ***IMPORTANT!!!***
NEW: You can skip this step by using LS97's Extension Conversion Widget!!!
Using the Extension Converter:
1. Download [link above].  Then double-click the file you just downloaded.
2. Drag the file you want to convert into the little box that shows up.
3. Type sb into the text box at the bottom.
4. Click Enter.
5. The converted file should show up in the same folder that the original file is in.

The first time you use it, if you don't already have one, you'll need to add a "Scratch2EXE" folder in 'My Documents'.  That is where your exe file will be put once it is compiled.

Then, it should work pretty much like Scratch2EXE.  You just open Panther2EXE, select you file, and you're good to go!

Please post below if you have any problems...I haven't tested this very much yet, so some things may not work...however most custom blocks seem to work!

Troubleshooting:
If you are getting a compiler error, first check to make sure you have a Scratch2EXE folder in your "My Documents" folder.  That seems to be the main issue for most people.

***NOTE:  Panther2EXE removes all of the custom block and file warnings, SO BE CAREFUL WHEN OPENING FILES MADE IN IT!!!  And please don't make any malicious files with it...

Does it work if the project has custom blocks?

This signature is TDD's fault... yes, I had to.

Yes, it has worked for custom blocks so far, as long as they are made with the Panther block editor.

Re: Panther2EXE

hmm...I think you might need to create a folder named "Scratch2EXE" in My Documents.  Thanks for mentioning it...I'll add that to the instructions right now!

Re: Panther2EXE

Argh, so sorry, I've been continuously meaning to post here for AGES but never had the time so here goes:

This is brilliant! I like it very much and you've provided Panther users for something they're been asking for for over a year when 1.0 was released! I'm linking this on the Panther homepage  big_smile

EDIT: Links to this thread are now on the homepage and downloads page of the site  smile

Re: Panther2EXE

dan, this is really great, but I think having to open the file again into your Panther just to change its extension is a bit excessive.

Might users want to try my Extension Renaming Widget?

It might be cool if that could be built in to the process somehow....  smile

Re: Panther2EXE

Well, for now I'll just add the extension converter to the 1st post...but I'll definitely look into making it built-in

Yes, you can. But since you're not meant to, I won't reveal how to do this.

Re: Panther2EXE

This doesn't work so great if you have Windows Vista or 7. In those, the folder is "Documents", not "My Documents". Therefore, you get the compiler error.  sad

Why not make a "My Documents" folder? I can run this perfectly fine on Ubuntu using that method.

In my version of 7, there is a "My Documents" folder.  Just look at C:\Users\Whatever your user is\

You have to open it with the version of Panther included in the folder, then run it.  It won't recognize .pt files; it only recognizes .sb files.

You could also use the extension converter (link provided on first post)...

I've got some time to work on this today...so are there any suggestions of things you want added/changed?
