Copyrights of images

My sister  wants to make a scratch project as part of her Phd. She wants to find some images from Internet and use them as characters or backgrounds  for the scratch project without having problems with copyrights.
Where she could find such images that are suitable for characters and backgrounds  and not protected by copyrights?

Re: Copyrights of images

Well, I would say the best thing for her to do is just draw them on her own, but if she doesn't want to do that, I would suggest going to The Shyguy Kingdom, or asking someone to draw them for her. I'm sure that if she put up a post on the Scratch Forums, someone would be happy to draw them for her! But again, I say the best thing for her to do is just draw them herself.

Re: Copyrights of images

Search Google for whatever she needs, but include the phrase "public domain".  For example, if she needed pictures of cats, you could search "public domain cats", "cats public domain images", or something like that.

Re: Copyrights of images

She won't have problems with copyrights anyway as long as she doesn't sell it, because all uploaded projects are under a Creative Commons license and it would also be fair use in an educational context.

Re: Copyrights of images

As Scratch is educational, you can't get in trouble for using copyrighted stuff  wink
