I'm afraid I hAVE NO EXPERIENCE WITH WITH EITHER OF THESE PROGRAMS THAT CREATED THESE TYPES OF FILES.

It just deletes the iexplore.exe file. Old builds used to back it up but I don't think IE Killer's final release does that any more.

This is a double-edged sword, dear. Although you may have cut the plant at the stem, the root still remains. It is known as either Trident or MSHTML (mshtml.dll) and it is the rendering engine of IE, which a lot of applications use such as WMP, Outlook & Outlook Express, Skype, and even parts of Windows Explorer itself. Accessing the internet from these programs is even less secure than using IE and has the same cruddy rending engine. If you get rid of the rendering engine, you break these programs and more. If you don't, you still run the risk of getting viruses even without Internet Explorer.

And just so you know, Windows has a setting built-in for default browser which defaults to IE but any competent browser (Chrome/ium, Safari, Opera, Firefox, Konqueror, etc.) changes this setting during their install process. Although I myself don't know how to change this value otherwise, I'm sure there's some sort of utility software or even just some menu on the Control Panel that'll allow you to change the default browser, sir.

It's via Start Menu settings. But changing default browsers doesn't stop apps that go to the EXE directly and execute it. But as for the rendering engine, it won't be needed when Shelled Basix gets released. It gets rid of the need for WinExplorer, WMP, Crashplorer and anything else that relies on the engine and after Shelled Basix gets released, IE Killer will support deleting MSHTML.DLL.

That's the result of Micro$oft forcibly bundling and tightly integrating Interfail Crashplorer into Windows and related products. Its been like this since Windows 95 and most people hate it. It even caused the DOJ of several nations (like Europe and even America) to file anti-trust laws against M$ for trying to destroy competition with said integration and not offering a way to uninstall IE; thus allowing M$ to capitalize on their browser/operating system monopoly and make other competitors suffer.

Most people will still use the regular Windows shell, so whatever. And are you planning on offering a Skype alternative?

I also know of no program that links directly to IE. Care to give an example or are you just making that up as you go along?

Yes I can. A feature in the program "Finderbar" (by Landvermesser) opens IE via EXE when you use certain features and the ffdshow codec features a JavaScript to open IE directly for some type of use (I can't understand JS).
As for the Skype alternative, yes. Shelled Basix's technology is equivalent to, if not better than, Explorer's. One feature is (planned) support for animated icons. Another is faster loading time (about 1.5 seconds whereas Explorer takes 5). Another is better customization and easier use. Lastly, another is 75% faster file searches (it takes Explorer FOREVER to find files). Does your Explorer do any of that without expansion programs?

It's still in development. If you're a WindozeNT Software developer, you can get a copy of Shelled Basix DP1 when it gets released and have a look for yourself!

If you actually read the description on the database, you'll see that it is an Anti-Apple word processor. That text file you see is the documentation for what the features do.
