There's nothing wrong with being conscientious about your children.
But if I do ever catch that lying jerk who said that violent videogames like tf2 desensitize children like me, I will personally rip his eyes off and stuff them down his throat so he can watch them digest and then I will cut off his limbs and feed them to my dog, and then leave him for my dog to eat him alive.
Ugh... There's a vivid picture that gives even me a bit of a stomachache

Look, let me explain.
In your mind...
reality and the internet are unable to be told apart by your son
In reality...
Your son understands that reality and the internet are two different things.
I was 11 when I started playing TF2.
I am now 12.
I have not become more violent.
I have not been scarred for life.
I am not a psychopath.
So either you're overreacting, or you simply were not child-savvy enough to understand that even children understand the difference between reality and fantasy.
Oh also, it's fun. I don't enjoy it solely for the fact that I get to kill. I enjoy the strategy. The teamwork. I appreciate the glory of getting a crocket smack dab in the middle of a horde of enemies. I LOVE winning. I can relieve stress. So stop worrying. It has no negative attributes to any even slightly normal individual.

Thanks for posting to share your concerns.
As some older Scratchers can testify, we often remove projects, comments, or discussions that we feel are too mature for an all-ages community, or which otherwise break our community guidelines. When it comes to posting links to other sites, it's definitely not ok to link to stuff that's too violent or otherwise inappropriate. However, the issue gets quite a bit more complex when it comes to making references to things that are popular in children's media. Preventing community members from even mentioning video games targeted towards teenagers would require an extremely strict model of censorship, one that would be difficult to enforce and have many side effects. While there are some websites - like Club Penguin, for example - that do have these kinds of policies in place, we've chosen not to take that approach.
I hope this helps explain our point of view. Please feel free to write directly to us via the "contact us" link at the bottom right of every page on Scratch if you have additional thoughts or concerns. This is compounded by the fact that most of our users are of 13-16 years of age (including me), so enforcing censorship like this would also not fit the sites central userbase. (We also have a large spike of users aged 21)
Mostly.
I'm nine. XD

...I tend to get like that when someone disses a game for being "OMG INNAPROPRIATE MY KID WILL BE SCARRED FOR LIFE NEAOOOOOOOO" when it is not in any way.
Oh, on a side note, I also have more to my defense:
If anything, TF2 properly illustrates that you should not kill everyone through the fact that it is only possible (or in some cases only appreciated) to kill the enemy.
Naturally, any sane person is instantly led to believe that it is a territorial dispute and therefore the moral is good. Just like we fought with the natives for the land we live in today.

For reasons that would only get a game rated T today.
Plus, this joker's only concerned that his kid's eyes will be opened to the existence of violence.

Let me say this. I am little older than your son. Trust me, Tf2 is violent but it shows you that you cannot hide forever. Someday he'll go play TF2 or COD or whatever and say, "wow! I never knew there was violence!". I play TF2, and it is not "garbage." PARENT SLANG FOR INAPPROPRIATE.

Maybe you should give him a chance. The first few times you can watch him play it. If it seems like you don't mind him playing it, let him. If not, don't. And it's probably not as bad as your describing it if the Scratch Team allows people discussing it on the forums.
Give him a chance. It's probably not as bad as you would think (I wouldn't know, because I don't play it. But still, you should try and take this advise into consideration.).

I was fine with me seeing bloody stuff. My nose bleeds. No prob, no censorship.
Many people have seen animated blood and gore too. Some of the projects on scratch have it. Parental Censorship? Nope.
Google also has a ban-hammer for inappropriate photos. It's called SAFESEARCH.
BTW, I play Team Fortress 2. "garbage" means "nobody wants it". Team Fortress 2 had OVER A MILLION SALES.
If you made your account just for this reason, you should go home and have a mug of joe. We actually MAKE PROJECTS don't you know.
I was once a new scratcher. But i wasn't sitting on the forums talking EXTREMELY OFF TOPIC. I suggest you go somewhere else to complain. Or just delete the whole post.

I'm actually pretty sure that in countries like Germany, where they have strict videogame violence laws, you can set it so that the players are actually robots or something. In my opinion, if I kill someone and oil and gears pop out, I find that a bit creepy, but whatever, theres probably a way to turn that on without downloading the German version (lol)
Tf2 is a fun game, and it's well worth the play if you can get that setting up.
Edit:
I think this is it. Try it out like this first, and if you don't like it, just don't let your kid play or uninstall it.
Also there's a setting under multiplayer that will turn off spays and stuff, keeps the children's eyes safe. I'm considering turning that on, because I, personally have seen enough bad sprays that this is probably a good idea
(Understatement above)
