I dont think the forums should be filled with minecraft. Or the main page. Why doesnt scratch just have one big topic and gallery bout minecraft so no one gets upset about mc literally everywhere on scratch.
The problem is that that topic would literally have thousands of pages all about different servers and it would become a bloody mess, difficult to find anything at all.

@my-chemical-romance: I just said that.If moderators are doing it, does that make it right? No. Besides, I thought Moderators weren't allowed to communicate with Scratchers offsite (and by thought, I mean one of them told me the Scratch Team said it)
But what if you're a mod and your little bro/sis makes an account?
DOES THAT MEAN THEY HAVE TO NEVER TALK TO THEIR SIBLINGS AGAIN?! D:

How about
"Ban 'Ban X' Topics"?

In that case should we all be renamed to USER[number]? I may use the same name for something else, and what if someone from Scratch talked to me? Oh my god, that's a horrible thought!

um, no way bro

Ha, I can already tell he posted this to make people angry.
That's just a side-effect, it wasn't my main intention
People read server rules, most people don't follow them, that's not what matters here. Unless they have servers with chats disabled, it won't be Scratch Approved.
...LOL.

Lol. It isn't even RIGHT to try and ban minecraft. Guess what?
People enjoy it. You'd be taking something very important away-- our enjoyment.
Have fun trying to get rid of minecraft.
I, however, must fight against that cause.

I've had fun contributing to a Scratch-based server, I don't think I'd use Scratch at all if we weren't allowed to have servers.

6 months or so ago, people complaining about Minecraft threads.
Now, people complaining about Minecraft threads.
I don't see an overwhelming amount of threads, I can still post about other topics if I want to. Just sayin'
Offline
It's not the number of threads.
Offline
What is the problem exactly, then?
Right now I see no Minecraft threads on the first page. It was much worse before.

Read the first post...
There are chats on servers and chats aren't allowed on Scratch because they're difficult to moderate.

Ah. That happens pretty often with online games, but Minecraft isn't even free to play (unless you pirate it) and you gotta download it, it's not as easy to access a Minecraft server, than it is to click a link to a page with a comments/chat section - hence why the latter aren't allowed. That's why it's allowed, I suppose.

I agree any links should be removed.
And the IPs also.
The name is fine.

Hmm, while we're banning minecraft, lets crack down on other bad things. My little ponie causes spam, we should ban everybody who likes it. Signatures can lead to off site areas, we should ban people with signatures. Misc can cause flamewars, Lets ban misc. TBGs, and RPGs can be violent, lets ban the text based games forum. People post topics about personal information, lets ban everybody who has viewed them.

Little pony, no idea what that is
Sigs, if they lead to off site they should be removed, but not all sigs and not the full sig.
Misc CAN cause flames, and if they do they are closed, no need for the ST to pick sides by banning people.
TBGs RPGs, who said anything about violence?
Also, ban means take away, not banning a user.

Now you almost see my point, Scratch is full of junk in the forums, Why not just give a warning against the minecraft topics as in "Minecraft Servers can allow people to swear, Use at your own risk." They can also make it a rule that you have to use a whitelist, and part of the whitelist application is: "Swearing and Griefing may happen, Are you ok with this?". They don't need to ban anything, just give warnings.

Yes, this is a suggestion, I am posting it in Miscellaneous first so that it gets some attention. There's also this thread in Miscellaneous that explains that we can't link to offsite places with chat areas. Guess what every MC server has? Chat boxes. And that's not the end of it. I joined a Scratcher's server using a friend's account (only after he practically begged me to try it, I still don't really care for it too much) and about a few minutes after I logged in, several scratches were harassing me and claiming I ruined some of their buildings. They provided no reasoning except that I was new. And I won't name names but these people were 13 years olds and stuff, and they were dropping some f-bombs. Minecraft is not only a hostile environment, it breaks the Scratch Approved offsite rules. I don't see why they haven't even been considered to be banned until now. I'm holding out hope that there's a topic in the secret moderator forums discussing this or something.
You make a good point - we do try to protect our members from ending up in a "inappropriate" environment too easily from Scratch. The key words there, are "too easily". It's my understanding that it takes a bit of know-how, and sometimes an invitation, to join up with a MC server. That makes it difficult enough that it's unlikely that an inexperienced Scratcher is going to end up on one by accident.
We decided that MC servers were not something we were going to attempt to manage at this time. Thanks for the suggestion though - and if you have specific experiences with particular servers that you think would change our minds, please feel free to contact us at help@scratch.mit.edu.
I haven't seen any new points raised...and the discussion is creating a lot of hostility so I'm going to close it.
