Yes, this is a suggestion, I am posting it in Miscellaneous first so that it gets some attention. There's also this thread in Miscellaneous that explains that we can't link to offsite places with chat areas. Guess what every MC server has? Chat boxes. And that's not the end of it. I joined a Scratcher's server using a friend's account (only after he practically begged me to try it, I still don't really care for it too much) and about a few minutes after I logged in, several scratches were harassing me and claiming I ruined some of their buildings. They provided no reasoning except that I was new. And I won't name names but these people were 13 years olds and stuff, and they were dropping some f-bombs. Minecraft is not only a hostile environment, it breaks the Scratch Approved offsite rules. I don't see why they haven't even been considered to be banned until now. I'm holding out hope that there's a topic in the secret moderator forums discussing this or something.

Um no.
You can't make choices based on annoyance. Minecraft servers don't link to stuff, you get an IP. Almost all servers have either rules about language or a language filter plugin. Also, its only the Minecraft community that play it also, you don't have to click it if you don't play Minecraft.
Also, why is Minecraft a hostile environment?

I don't see how that magically removes the chatboxes

Harakou plays Minecraft. Poor Harakou, inspecting Minecraft servers for life to see if they are safe. Oh, and SurvivorDuck

I don't see how Scratch's rules to linking to websites have an impact on games.

By playing on a minecraft server you are agreeing to their rules, you can't ban topics about minecraft servers just because you disagree with the rules. Many servers are Scratch based and you're actually talking to us right now through the forums, the chat isn't any different.
I quote one of the Scratch team on this:
"We have no control over anything out of Scratch"
By playing on the server you have nothing to do with Scratch, you are playing under their rules (which should be stated in the OP of the server thread), if you don't like the rules don't join.

Pff, but you can swear on Scratch but it's not allowed and is filtered. So if mc swearing is not allowed and censored what's the problem?

There are plug-ins to censor swears on Minecraft, if you're so hurt about swearing only go on servers with this plug-in.

@my-chemical-romance: I just said that.

If moderators are doing it, does that make it right? No. Besides, I thought Moderators weren't allowed to communicate with Scratchers offsite (and by thought, I mean one of them told me the Scratch Team said it)

like my-chemical-romance said, the scratch team themselves said that they have no control of what happens off site.

Minecraft Server Topics shouldn't be banned. If that ever happens, and we have to resort to the Official Topic, it would be chaos! Nobody would know what server people would be talking about AND there would be a huge argument about all of the servers.

No.

it is abundantly clear nobody agrees

So why do they have that topic forbidding places with chatboxes from being advertised on Scratch? They can control what goes on their site at least, which means they can remove the links / IPs / whatevers that lead scratchers there

And this matters why? You don't do something for people to agree with you, you do it because it's right.

You're the only one upset about it, you're also the only one who didn't read the server's rules.
Everyone else can handle it, everyone reads the server rules.

That's just a side-effect, it wasn't my main intention
People read server rules, most people don't follow them, that's not what matters here. Unless they have servers with chats disabled, it won't be Scratch Approved.

Well it IS Scratch approved, MIT can't control the whole world. They probably were following the rules, the rules were just against your beliefs.

It's not Scratch Approved, look up what Scratch Approved means. They can't control what's off their sites but they can control what's on their sites (that is, by getting rid of all MC server topics on Scratch).

This. People can't have their servers cluttered in one single topic. So if Someone says:
Someone wrote:
I like your server.
Then Someone Else might be like:
Someone Else wrote:
Who's server are you talking about?
*reads opening post.* Oh, the swearing is your problem. There are plugins that can censor those kinds of words.

If you're really hurt by swearing then don't join or join one with no-swearing rules/plug-ins, you don't have to ruin everyone's fun just because you don't like MP.

I'm not telling the Scratch Team to make one big official topic, I'm asking them to get rid of all of the Server Topics altogether. Minecraft Discussion? Fine. Leading Scracthers to servers? Not on my watch
The swearing isn't my problem so much as the chatting is.
