Vista to XP

We use SCRATCH in our school at KHS.  And the kids love it. They download their own copies and get some fantastic work done.

Problem we are having is that our school runs on an XP network and the kids use vista at home.

They bring in their work and cannot get het school SCRATCH to open it. It give the error, cannot open bad Header.

Any fixes or is it a matter of updating our version?

Thanks VLU

Re: Vista to XP

Whenever I get the Bad Header message, it's because I tried to open a 1.3. project in 1.2.    I would suggest you make sure you're opening 1.3. When I double-click on a Scratch project on the desktop, the computer tries to open it in 1.2, and then gives me the Bad Header message.

Then again, I use a Mac, so I'm probably not qualified to answer this  smile .

Re: Vista to XP

It is very likely you are running an older version of Scratch on the School computers, as daydreamgirl suggests.  You can check the version number by opening up a new Scratch Project, the version is displayed in the upper left corner.  The school computers should be upgraded to version 1.3, if possible.

Re: Vista to XP

the reason for that is that you are opening it in another version of scratch. e.g. at home i have 1.3.1 but at school i have 1.2///this means i cant open the files. it doesnt matter if they use vista or xp

Re: Vista to XP

Well done guys/gals. The school are running an older version.

Will note to tell the kids to run the older one.

Must also try and get the new one on our system.

Re: Vista to XP

if you are going to tell them something it would be to download the old one at home until the new version becomes available on the server/system. This way, they can take there school work home and continue it there...then when the new one is successfully downloaded, switch over and tell the kids to uninstall 1.2 if u want.

Re: Vista to XP

Don't tell the kids at home run an older version. Download the 1.3.1 update for your school computers. It is the version you need, unless your computers are too old to handle 1.3.1.

I once used Scratch 1.3 to exploit the % bug.
