Here's a tip:  When you begin, just stay in your starting corner until the other person starts moving to attack you, thus wasting his battery.

(In some cases, the opponent will offer a draw.  Do not take it; wait until you are heavily damaged, then click Offer Draw.  It will foil his win.)

It is also possible for you to get a better battery, with a bit of selling and buying:

Keep:
Dagger

Sell:
4 Small Wheels
Hydrogen Battery

Buy:
3 Small Wheels
Alkaline Battery
