I have an odd question. For people who think of themselves as gothic.
Okay, so I was in gym before halloween, and we were all talking about what we wanted to dress up as. This girl said she wanted to be "goth".
I was kind of offended.
I mean, for me, goth is an everyday culture, and she wears it for a HALLOWEEN costume?
What do you people think about this?

I have respect for emo's and such, being half one myself. But gothic people I don't like. At all.
Its not a question of respect, I just don't like them.
Well if you wanted honesty, that's all you had to say. I never want to let you down or have you go, it's better off this way.

I don't really consider myself gothic, but I think of myself as philosophical, sarcastic, and depressed from time to time. And that girl who said she was being a goth probably wanted to be a goth to see what it's like. But it's a misnomer to think that you are a goth because you wear black clothes and stuff. Goth is more of a mental concept, only some people express that concept in an outward fashion.

being depressed is one thing but being gothic is another
they just want to "stand out" but it's not really in a good way
it's not a matter of respecting their culture.
I won't fight them, but i don't agree with their ways and i don't care if i'm being "rude dude"

Erm, emos, scene kids and goths are different things.
Scene kids have really weird hair with a few colors in them and most the time they're fake emos (but not all the time)
Emos are mostly emotionally scarred, they don't whine about everything and not all of them cut, it's not a style it's a state of mind which is sometimes outwardly expressed.
Goths are more of a religious emo, not all of them worship the devil.
