Well, tomorrow is the day.
Today is the final day.
Minecraft Version 1.0 is going to be released on Friday.
As we celebrate this ever-joyful occasion, we also must mourn the past.
R.I.P. to old Minecraft. It was a long run. We now have to say a prayer for all the past versions we, the Minecraft community, have played and enjoyed.
We must never forget these phases of Minecraft:
Post Single Player Creative Mode Release, the first ever phase of Minecraft, of which back then was called the Cave Game. Notch knew very little of what a success the game was going to be.
Post Multiplayer Creative Mode Release, of where all our multiplayer fans rejoiced in happiness.
Survival Mode Test, the final stage of classic and the introduction of Minecrafts future.
Then came Indev, then Infdev, both great additions to Minecraft.
Then came Alpha, the first step into the blinding light of success. In Alpha we had Post Single Player Survival Mode Release and Post Multiplayer Survival Mode Release, great versions to be later mourned.
Then came Beta, the stage we are on now, but not for long. It is the second to last step to victory, to success, to Minecraft, Full Version.
This phoenix of a game was born out of a fireplace, an idea. It has lived a fantastic life and then burnt into flames, creating more life out of its ashes. It is time for its final rebirth.
All raise their goblets and plastic cups, and give a toast to Minecraft.
TO MINECRAFT! IT SHALL BE A GREAT SUCCESS!

FOR MINECRAFT!
Today, alas, is both a sad day and a happy day. For today is the last day. The last day before a plunge, so deep and explosive it will change the game, the game we call Minecraft, forever. Minecraft began as a child, but grew and now it is time for it's death. But it had a child. A great child. It passed it's greatness onto this child and more... so much more. The child is new, fresh and will continue to grow. There will be accidents, a slip on the floor, but it will linger on. It's hope. It's achievement of rising from a meaningless game nobody knew could rise to such greatness. But it has. And tomorrow, it will take it's final step. We do not know how this child will grow, but now it is here we know it will stride forth for greatness. For beauty.
For minecraft.
Goodbye, Beta. I've been with you for 306 days and now. Now, you make your move. To shine, like nothing has shone before. But this is not the end... no, this is only the beginning...
God, to heck with it. I CAN'T WAIT.

Ah... Minecraft beta, I'll miss you.
I remember when I lived a world where animals were infinite, where sheep were rarer, and no wolves to be seen. I didn't know what to do. I was lost. I woke up one day in a building I didn't make. I walked outside in the dead of night, and I was then struck by a force. An arrow in my back side. I ran, for I didn't know what to do.
Then I awoke once more, but I had a better knowledge, and this time, there were wolves and a delicious baked snack at my side. I set off, learning of how wood goes into a 4 by 4 square, only to evolve into a multitude of helpful survival skills.
I awoke once more. I suddenly knew how to make a few better rails. I could never bring myself to make a good track or two though.
I had always feared what lied in that hole in my floor. Those mineral rich caves, those lava pools, but I was always so afraid to dig deeper. I never made up for that fear, but that little hatch I put into my house made me feel a bit better...
I awoke yet again. For some reason, I could no longer torture those poor sheep with a hit of a fist, or the nudge of a hoe. I found out how to create a iron tool just for the purpose though. That fear of misplacing TNT left me though, for I could now pick it up with ease.
And now, we have today. With such a huge gasping breath I awoke, in an unknown world, feeling weak from hunger, confused as to what to do. I ravenously ate some cooked pork, and I turned to my side to see a chicken in my house. I killed it. I suddenly saw a delicious chicken waiting to be cooked. I wandered outside, seeing the night sky, ready for anything. Was I wrong. I turned about and saw a slender, dark creature. He looked back at me. With sudden worry I drew my sword. I came at him and swung, but he was no longer there. With a strike to the back, I flew forward. I turned and hit the beast. I hit it once more and it perished. I felt hungry once more, but the vast amount of animals I once saw were no more. The landforms around me was so different. Above I saw the clouds up high, and ravines stretching low. Mountains touching the sky, mineshafts I never built. I guess I would have to learn.
No, I KNEW I had to learn. For around me lived an ever evolving nation, a blocky, and infinite one at that.

did people act this way after Alpha testing was over?
Because if we do it allows over-dramatic speeches.

Yeahno.
They have a seperate team just for scrolls, notch will still update minecraft...
Don't say stuff that's not true and call it true.

Notch still codes Scrolls you know.... And he and jebs are the only ones who work on the code side of MC.
And nowhere did I say it was true, it's an opinion, but I guess nobody is allowed to have one of them here huh?

Gah, I hate seeds. D:
All of these seeds spawn you in a pine forest which I don't want. And these are the only ones I've just tried:
Andrew (my name)
Andrewseed
Minecraft
Notch
12345
Werdna123
Seed123
Anyone know any nice simple ones which spawn you in a hilly place with normal trees? (or birch).
So am I just really unlucky or is it like that with most seeds?

Liru spawns you in a hilly place with walkways underneath and a canyon filled with water which acts like a river
Nervesplitter spawns you on a river, follow it down and there is a MASSIVE ravine going into a mountain and further down is a swamp
