PLEASE READ MOST OF THE POSTS BEFORE SAYING SCRATCH IS FOR EVERYONE.
Ik this has been suggested before but i think before it was suggested in the wrong way.
It would be simply a way of hiding projects topics or even posts which may be inappropriate for younger ages, but in a good way.
For instance, if I made a game with a lot of blood, it would be inappropriate for a two year old, and since scratch knows your age, anyone above a certain age would not even know about it!
Heres how it works, someone posts a project and they can choose weather they think it has, Blood, Crude Behavior, Mildly Bad Words (like the cr words) etc. It would then if it had any of these would only allow older people to view it.
For instance some of Swifty episodes he says the Cr words. They would be put for older ages ONLY.
This would also encourage people to make games without bad words or blood in them, so that more people could view, love, favorite, download, and remix.
What if someone was dishonest and their project had blood in it?
Then It could be reported as a project with blood in it.

Well, that nescesarily isnt what Scratch is. Scratch is meant to be used for young programmers, all ages and what you are suggesting doesn't go well with it in my opinion. You're suggesting that projects that have blood or violence should be catorgarized as above a certain age. This encourages people to make non-violent project. Although this works up until now, most view-hungry people will be dishonest. Like you suggested, it would be reported by a Scratcher. The only problem: It would scar about 1-5 people before it being catorgarized properly. The Scratchers will not get punished as they will almost always claim that they made a mistake. Now Scratch reporting works differently. They only get flagged if innapropriate for children. Anybody who disobeys get punished. I'm afraid your new suggestion would have its floors. Still, it is kind of a good idea. ~anuw

I think I didn't explain it very well, i don't mean scratch would allow more bloody projects, I think they should block them for younger ages, there are already hundreds of bloody projects, and even if reported they would be considered fine, but if there was a way so that they would be reported as a higher age, it would still be better than nothing.
I don't believe in making it so teens should be able to post worse projects, this would only keep younger people from seeing it.

another small problem is that younger people lie about their age when signing up
I did think about that, but then if they see a bad project, it is their fault for lie ing. No?
The Scratch Team cant help people who lie, they can only ask for the truth.

Come on doesn't anyone think it would be nice to not see as many bloody projects out there which have slightly bad words?

I don't think so. Cause that really isn't Scratch. We shouldn't split the community. :\

Do i have to explain it?
This is only making it so younger ages wouldn't see projects which are reported for older ages, it doesn't split up anyone, it takes the area where the ST is a bit neutral weather they should take it off or not, and puts it into a place where it will be both!

This is an educational website and I don't think that they should officially split the community like this, and there is also the aforementioned lying about age.
If you want to make such a site, using the ScratchR platform, feel free to talk to the Scratch Team about it. I'd definitely be happy to join such a site, and I've done such in the past.

Scratch is supposed to be for all ages, so I don't know if that's really possible. On another hand, if someone lies about their age, it's really on them, because your not harming anybody but yourself. On another hand, I do agree that there are some projects that have blood and profanity, but what really infuriates me is the fact that the users ask not to be reported! Why not just keep your project clean? Either way, I think that if you find a project that is inappropriate, you should simply flag it as just that. Inappropriate.

Ik, but I mean, it still scars little eyes.
Even if they do report it it will still be one more person who sees it.
Also I agree, maybe even some blood should be reported, but I've seen once something that was featured and it had blood in it.
This shows maybe blood isn't considered bad on scratch, which means people who don't want to see it should have a way of blocking it.
See what I mean?

Okay, but I think there should be a parent code, where you can allow kids to watch these projects.
So something like this would come up:
WARNING: The project contains blood! Enter the parent password to watch the project, or you can (link) return to the user's page (/link)

Nope. Younger children shouldn't be denied from seeing projects.
