If you're not remixing a remix, it usually says "Based on (insert name here)'s project, while if you are, then it usually says "Based on (insert name here)'s version on (insert name here)'s project".

Anyway, let's just get back to the topic: What is the difference between "project" and "work"?
Never mind, we can keep talking.

Well, I think based on a project means you downloaded it, then edited it, I may be wrong about the next part, but if you go into Extras in scratch, and do "Import Project" and then share, I think it'll say "Based on ______'s Work"
idk if that's true, but it might be...

I'll try it.
EDIT:Nope.
EDIT 2:In fact, it doesn't say based on (insert name here)'s ANYTHING" at all!

You get the "base on xxx's project" if the project you remixed is still on the web. If xxx has removed the original project, you get "based on xxx's work".

Thanks!
EDIT: But wait. I got something as a remix from somebody named "redsoxstinks" or whatever. Then somebody posted a remix. That project from that dude is still up, but the remix says "Based on redsoxstinks's work". Any explanation to that?

Most likely the project that is still up there is a second version. That means that the person probably uploaded an original version, deleted it, and then uploaded the second one that still is online.

Such as somebody remixed a project then they deleted the first version then they posted a remix to the remix of the deleted project?

Whenever I look at the above post it takes a minute to figure out what I just said...
And I think I know why "work" could be someone posting a remix to a remix of a deleted project. Or even just posting a remix to a deleted project. You see, "work" is never a hyperlink (it's just normal text), so it doesn't let you click on it to go to that project, like this text, which links to my page.
