Help an ignoramus

I have just started using Sense/Scratch. What does 'setting keypress to true' in a character stack actually do? I've read something about Boolean idead of TRUE and FALSE, etc, but in practical terms? Thanks.

Re: Help an ignoramus

Anyone got a more helpful answer? I just want a simple explanation for what 'set keyPressed to TRUE' does.

I don't know what you're referring to, with "set keyPressed to TRUE". Could you link to a screenshot, please?

Re: Help an ignoramus

Do you mean this?

set [keyPressed v] to [true]
That sets the variable "keyPressed" to the value "true".

Re: Help an ignoramus

Yes! Sorry, I'm new and inept - I am just writing a simple word processor for an assignment. What does this block do in practical (idiot's) terms?

The SET TO block sets a variable to the value given to it. You can learn more about variables heresmile
