i know but i did not know the "official term" for the problem in the story. And i also stated this because fiction writing is art and videogames with stories are usually fiction. Therefore, some videogames ARE art.
EDIT: That is if you are designing a game or playing a game thats a simulation or where u desgin a world like in Spore is what i consider art.

Jackson Pollock made art. Quite a good plot to his work, no?
THE STORY! THE CONFLICT! IT'S INTENSE

Tired old things like Pokemon which drag on and on and on and on are not art. They're the same engine with different characters and pokemon and regions. The first Pokemons were art. The new ones are not.
When people put creative energy and effort into it, it's art.
+1

I think it really just depends on one's definition of the word "art".
In my opinion, I think video games would fall under the term "art", because it's a product that was created from someone's imagination.

You need to play Flower. So beautiful!

Half Life 2 was a shooter and it was art in my opinion
so in my mind genre doesn't matter!

Uh the only thing I consider artsy about video games is their graphics
Sorry I'm not a video game expert

Name a game you'd consider art.
But don't mention any shooters. Because then I'd have to laugh at you.
And then I'd get in twubble. :cThere are a lot of games I consider art.
Mainly flash games made by relatively unknown developers.
I agree.
Shooters are not art and can never be art.Agreed. Sure, they can have artful GRAPHICS, but there's nothing artsy about lighting people up.
then are violent books not art too?
or how about violent images?

Although, yes, there is already a strong artistic aspect to it.

It's still good for a game which isn't even done, they add new things each week and it's really amazing, they added weapon throwing within the space of two weeks (One alpha build had it, but it was unbalanced) and sheathing small weapons at the same time. The weapons are also very artistic and based off real life oens.

Anyone saying:
"LOL I HATE SHOOTERS< WILL NEVER BE ARTS LULZ"
Shut up. [Moderator note - Please be respectful when discussing]
Why is a shooter any worse than a movie about or featuring war?

"Art" is a relative term.
I don't consider violent or action movies art.
They are "entertainment" not art.
My opinion, live with it. No need to get your pants in a twist just because everyone doesn't think blood, guts, and unnecessary gore are as fun as you do.
Saving Private Ryan is art. Call of Duty is not.
Sorry if I sound hostile, but you weren't exactly being kind, yourself.

Those are excellent pieces of art, actually.
Just because YOU don't want to see it, YOU don't agree with it, doesn't mean YOU decide if it's art.

Yes, and that's what opinion means.

Yes, but I DON'T agree with it, I would prefer NOT to see it, and I realize that art can be something I don't enjoy or agree with.

some violence can teach us morals, but violence is not a pleasant form of art.
