I presume you're talking about Assassin's Creed. If so, then that is the point of the game, right? I mean, you're an assassin. The point is to kill people. Why would you even want to play something like that? You enjoy playing games where you have the pleasure of pretending to murder people? Anyone who enjoys playing those types of games is in my opinion slightly sadistic.

Its people like this who probably have never played nor tried a "sadistic" game.

Dude take a chill pill. Assassins Creed from what I can see isn't about JUST killing people it's about completing an objective like all games are. It just so happens that you kill people along the way. GEE WHIZ WHAT A SHOCKER. I mean, chess is a game about killing people. They just couldn't add blood, but if they could of I bet they would of. It's the game play not the killing people that is the entertainment. You want a good example of this? Take Manhunt 2. Apparently somebody did like violence a little too much and decided to make a game that actually WAS about murder. But the game wasn't good gameplay-wise and plus the deaths were too gruesome, so nobody wanted to buy it and nobody wanted to sell it either. TF2 is a game where you try to capture the other teams control points or their "flag" ( a briefcase.) Instead of tagging the other team of course you shoot them. But the main idea of the game isn't exactly the killing people it's keeping people away from your flag or control points. For some people the violence may be a plus (I am not one of those people.) but it isn't really the point.

Not to mention I wasn't playing Assasin's Creed.

The root of that quote chain was me mentioning my mom didn't want me to play Gmod cause she heard me saying I became an assassin. And while in that game you can become one, it is very far from the point of it, and is only possible if you are playing one a server with a mod. She also called it a "shoot 'em" game which it is very far from.

But you still have good points PW my sir.

Plus they come back to life anyway. Being an assassin in that game is like being payed to focus on tagging one person in a game of tag. There's hardly a consequence to it in the game, in real life there is a consequence. We all realize that in real life they will not come back and none of us would do that in real life.

And enough about the gameplay, people! Whether it's for the violence or not, it doesn't matter. The bottom line is it's M-rated and whatever you do, don't play it. You're too young for the last darn time!  mad

Lastly, if your parents disagree with the game as it is too mature, don't try to convince them or hide it from them. A game is a game and it doesn't matter. Go buy a game that your parents will agree on, like Super Mario or something. Or (here's a thought) get a book and read.

Usually, for a truly bad effect to happen as a cause of a game, movie, TV show, etc. the person has to ALREADY be emotionally or mentally disturbed. An average person doesn't go from perfectly sane to a murderer JUST from consuming media.

Is the person really too young? For all we know, he could be really mature, and can handle stuff like that. He's a teenager from what I gathered, and by that age most people are old enough to know "reality" and "fantasy".

And don't point me to a bunch of studies about violent video games desensitizing kids. There are countless studies on both sides of the argument, so studies can't be used as a consensus for either side.

Violence in general isn't always bad. However, blood spewing all over the place and people dying everywhere isn't a kid or teen-friendly scenario.

Because when you really murder NOTHING spews. It's all kid friendly, there's no consequence.

But in all seriousness, that top sentence was to demonstrate that I think it's better they leave it in than to desensitize them by making them believe it will not happen.

Exactly. And I'm over 12, but I don't play most 12 (that's what it's called in England, at least) rated games. I think the only 12 rated game I'm fine with playing is Tron Evolution. I'd NEVER want to play a game which involves committing acts of violence.

so you've never played mario?

Yes, I have, but there's a difference.

1. It's not graphic at all.
2. It's cartoon graphics (doesn't make much difference (to me at least) but it's something).
