The MIT program Starlogo tng has a build a block procedure where you use a procedure hat and then add blocks under it to make a block, i think scratch should have that.
It wouldn't be confusing, because all you'd have to do is program the block once, and then use it throughout the project!

This would be one small step towards providing the ability for the programmer to write and call functions and/or methods that receive parameters and return values, a capability that is sorely needed to move Scratch forward.

Awesome idea jman720 (though not as awqesome as me ) but i'll still be you in bluestribute's pokemon contest my pokemon will crush your electroball ( though i can't really count on that cuz my pokemons' backs are very crummy and the contest isn't over yet.

Using a knowledge of Squeak and a third programming language, you could write a "translator" so people could type in Actionscript, which would be converted to Squeak and then to a block. That would be awesome!
